Can someone explain, I placed my order on 6/25. Up until 7/28 things were going well, the build sheet showed up, Chat told me that they had all of the parts and the build had begun, I called the dealer and he said that it had gone out to a body vendor, would be back and ship Tuesday 8/3. Then Friday I heard that the plant was going to shut down Monday 8/2 due to chip issues. I checked with Chat Tuesday 8/3, was told that it was back from body vendor, but still had accessories that needed to be installed, but plant was shut down for a week, I should check back next week. asked about the chip shortage, and Chat said they were told that the plant would be shut down for a week. What is weird, since 7/28, in the data base, my Jeep has not been updated. It has been over a week and I am starting to get a little worried, not sure where my Jeep is....... Any words of wisdom??? Thanks.

The problem is that neither Jeep chat or the dealer are reliable sources of build status information. You will get conflicting stories until the day it shows up at the dealer.

I ordered mine on 7/1.

When my jeep got finished and ready to ship Jeep chat told me that it was in Framing.

my dealer told me it was done 7/28 and was going to ship between then and 10-14 days.

A few days ago I asked jeep chat the status again and they said it will arrive at the dealership between 7/31 and 8/13.

My dealer said a few days ago it's sitting in a trailer or something waiting for truck drivers.

Either way they have always been completely different. Jeep chat has always been like 4 days behind my dealer. I would try to just be patient because I have been trying to figure it out for weeks now because I'm excited but it hasn't made it go faster or given me better information lol. I don't believe jeeps are real, but will be excited when I get a call from the dealer proving me wrong.

Regretfully reading this thread is like reading a black comedy of a clown show. For the life of me I can't understand why communication with the customer isn't a measured report that gets briefed monthly to the top leadership. None of this is rocket science.

Doesn't affect me because my own clown show of getting my SIXTH major surgery [in under a year] on my left elbow is next week.

What's worse is there was absolutely nothing manly about the accident---I fell off a 3 step, step stool. Open fracture, top of radial bone sheared off, and complete dislocation which destroyed all my soft tissue.
Jeep Gladiator Chip shortage is finally affecting Gladiator production IMG_6909

I haven't had a cage in years as my only means of transportation has been my Harley. After moving to Missouri I knew I'd be getting a MT Gladiator and then this happens.

I only drive manual transmissions but the elbow is so screwed up I can't even lift a coffee cup much less bring it to my mouth. So for the past year in-between surgeries I've driven the wife's Lexus RX 350---with a "suicide" spinner wheel on the right side of the steering wheel so I only have to use the left arm for the turn signals.

With a manual transmission the spinner needs to be on the left side so I can shift with the right---doubt I will ever be able to consistently use a steering wheel without a spinner.

Bottom line is I'm assuming this is the last surgery. If I end up in as much pain as I am now I'll have to get a F!@#ING Automatic.

Praying Sarge Green is still available in '22. I'd be happily tooling around with a '21 MT Mohave if not for this damn elbow.

Not at all pleased with having the added cost of the '22 model as it seems pretty clear they aren't planning any major changes [June AutoShow proved that to me].

But life is what it is and you have to roll with the punches and carry on. I'm assuming I'll know by the end of the year what the status of my elbow is going be. Hopefully the Chip shortage is solved by then and I can finally order.

I don’t see any change coming to MY22 so still not worth the wait imo if anything higher msrp due to commodity pricing.

I'm going to hope you're wrong for several reasons, lol. For starters- the price has been going up every month for a while now already.

If you want any car of any kind soon I would order it asap. The chip shortage has no quick fix, this will be an ongoing issue for a while. Also the other shortages from worker to materials seem to be getting worse lately than better.

Pro tip:
I feel while it's this bad I'm gonna order cars from all the places I might want a car from that require no deposit and just buy one when I need the next one and cancel all the other ones when they are built lol. Prolly end up on some car manufacturer/dealer black lists or something .

At least for me, I was already seeing package prices pushed up by current realities, rather than 2021 origination prices in the guide. Expecting delivery in 12/21 which I can deal with.
