I installed the Amp XL steps on my Gladiator yesterday. The install instructions are "iffy" at best. There is no call out to install the horseshoe shim under the front mounting points, only a drawing, very easy to miss that step. Same for one of the bolts no call out to install it, just a drawing. The wiring description is horrible IMO until you understand that there are 3 OEM plugs or connectors as the instructions call them: Blue, White, and Black. Trigger wires for deployment/retraction: The 4 AMP trigger wires (white, yellow, gray, and purple) attach to the matching small violet striped OEM wires. The Amp white wire attaches to OEM voilet/white striped wire found on the OEM Blue connector plug, The Amp gray wire attaches to the OEM violet/gray striped wire found on the OEM White connector/plug. The Amp yellow wire attaches to the OEM violet/yellow striped wire found on the OEM Black connector/plug. The Amp purple wire attaches to the OEM solid violet wire found on the OEM white connector/plug, I grounded the Amp black ground wire to the ground bus bar (you will see it when the kick panel cover is removed), remove the spare 10mm nut and put it there. In order to get in this passenger floorboard area...I removed to passenger seat 4 bolts and lifted it to the rear area without unplugging the seat. Gives you more room. If someone wants actual pics of where the wires go...let me know and I will post those too.

Power wires: Super simple. There are only 3 wires on the AMP harness the you run into the passenger side floorboard area, these are Red, Purple w/black stripe and solid purple. These attach to the trigger module with the same colored wires, Red to Red, Purple w/ black strip to the same and Purple to Purple, Done. Last is the battery attachment, Red to positive post, black to Neg side. Done.

is your jeep a 20 or 21? on instructions sent w boards it says violet yellow should be on black connector for a 2020 but white connector on 2021. I have a 2021 and the only violet yellow was at black connector.

Alex, will you post your wiring pics for me? I installed my steps this weekend and they worked to pull the steps up and then nothing. My "door ajar" indicators are all working and there is power to the controller. I have some testing steps to conduct that AMP Research Tech provided, but I want to make sure that I am tapped into the correct wires. I have a 2021 Mojave and it has the same colored connectors as your 2020. TIA

Any tips on the override switch now before I start it.

I've not read all of the details on these, but my wife asked again about an easier way to get into my truck. I told her about these - and she asked how much.
I explained they go down when you open the door, up with door closed.
Then she asked "what if you don't have doors" - and of course her next comment was "ah, I stumped you about Jeeps! Finally!"

I guess there must be some over-ride switch?
She loves it when she gets one up on me.

There is an override switch that can be installed. I had one installed on mine if I ever took the doors off.

When I take my doors off I pull the AMP fuse first while they are retracted.
Non-functional, but at least they are up and out of the way.

I think my wife was more wondering how she'd get in if the doors off and they didn't work in that mode...........

Not to hijack the thread, but how are these with abuse? Do they work as decent rock sliders, or will they get damaged easily? The wife wants to get a set of these on her JT, but I am hesitant since I am afraid they look a bit fragile for much off road use.

I have gone over several obstacles at a local off-road park and they have held up very well. I also had these on my H2. Without going into too much detail, the ones on my H2 only very slightly dented after a concrete pole went down the side. The side of the H2 was a different story.
