- it had better be at least a class 10.9 (grade 8 SAE equal)
You don't go to the Ace hardware store or Menards and buy a bolt that fits on brake calipers.
Anyone putting "just a bolt" in my suspension, steering or brake calipers will be fired.
Even my old cars have grade 8 bolts in the calipers and caliper brackets.

That's good - and many stores do, but the point is most people go in and "buy a bolt" and never think beyond "will it fit the hole".
Not all hardware stores or home centers carry anything other than 5.

That’s fair. Just seemed odd to group them in with run of the mill stores - my local store has been a savior for all my mods ?

Each is different - the one in Altoona is small, basic bolts. You have to go to a larger store to find the metric hard bolts.

Tractor Supply is a good source for grade 8 bolts around these parts. YMMV

Funny my local Ace has class 10.9 bolts. Perhaps take it down a notch.

On side note when my JLRD gets in at the end of the month, it looks like I'll have to be going over it on my own ensuring everything is nice and tight and torqued correctly. Very sad you have to do this on a 50k truck Reminds me of KTM quality control. No good.

It’s a common grade 10.9 bolt, available from any Lowe’s, Home Depot, Ace, or auto parts supplier. The Hillman fastener drawers are where they are found. I bought some for my driveshaft spacer this week.

The problem I saw was "it's just a bolt" - go into an Ace hardware store - depending on location and size, and ask for a bolt and you'll likely get a grade 5 (8.8 metric)
These aren't "just a bolt" - they are brake caliper bolts.
Take it down a notch LOL.
Not all stores that sell bolts sell metric hard bolts. And most people who go looking for bolts will end up with just that - a bolt that fits.
You are the only one bothered by my comment.
MY local Ace does NOT have metric hard bolts. They have standard class 8.8 metric unless you go with SAE like a 3/8 or 1/2 then they'll have grade 8 bolts.

It's not just a bolt, it's a hard bolt. Not a 8.8 or a grade 5 bolt.
Many people looking to replace bolts don't realize there's a difference.
You'd be amazed at the stuff I've pulled out of cars I've worked on.

They have everything......... even the drive screws that hold the baffle on the bottom of intake manifolds. Get outside of our area and you can find things at larger hardware stores. There's a Thiesens and a True Value that's huge about 30 minutes away.

Check the inside of your wheel as well. Looks like it was gouged quite a bit from the caliper rubbing against it. I had this happen on the right front of my 1997 Land Cruiser a few years ago while exiting the interstate.

I tried every place in town. Auto parts and hardware. No one has it.

I had a bad caliper bolt on my old Renegade TH. Closest partwas nnext state over.

Does the factory use loctite? I always use the red for caliper bolts.
