Hey guys, I just called my dealership to see how much a re-gear would cost me... They said that they have a policy of no customer supplied part. Ok thats fine... I told them the ratio I wanted. He called back and gave me the price of two AXLES 8k$... I told him I just want the ring and pinion, then he said because I dont have the wider axles like on the max tow or Rubi, That I cannot regear the front with mopar gears.
Can anyone shed light on this? sounds like BS to me...

And this is why there are so many GOOD 4x4 specialty shops in the world, dumb-ass dealerships do their marketing for them.

You definitely don't want that dealership working on your Jeep.

Yes that is pure bullshit.

Some dealerships don't have good diff techs so they just change the whole unit. They also tend to have high hourly rates. As above, shop around. It is critical that the gears be installed to 0.002" for the correct wear pattern.

Hey guys thabk you for the responses. I found a good shop in gloversville NY, an hour from me. :) 4X heaven (sounds like a porn shop ??)

Dealership was just plainly incompetent. Called three... similar unintelligible responses from all. Seemed to just make up excuses on the spot to get off the phone.

Got quoted $1800 for the re-gear parts and labor! Can't wait!

While you're at it, you could always throw in an ARB or two....

$8K is generally a "go away" price quote. Makes up for work that dealerships normally do not do on a regular basis and can flip more jobs rather than have a service bay tied up with just your one job.
