Driver’s or passenger side? Trying to tribute the weight as best as I can on the bed rack. Have 3 RotoPax gas containers, and a propane tank, not to mention the roof top tent just for starters.

The side you sit on.

Unless you weigh less than a tank of gas.

Also not a weight thing, but being able to look through the rack out the passenger side is nice, I have always assumed vehicles would be balanced, but the front differential is offset, gas tank is on driver’s side , I’m heavy, surprized it isn’t two wheels half the time!…..Jack

I know what I weigh (right around 185 - 190 lbs) but have no idea what a tank of gas weighs. I thought the tank was on the passenger side? Whatever, I’ve decided I’m gonna mount the rotopax fuel containers (3) on the driver’s side. Within easy reach of the fuel port that way. Other side will probably get a 2.5 gallon rotopax water container and maybe a high lift Jack. We’ll see…

Fuel is six pounds per gallon. 22 gallons of fuel would weigh 132 pounds. Fuel tank is on the passenger side, likely specifically to counter the driver's weight. Exhaust runs down the driver side.

Yes fuel tank is on the right according to what is said - but so are the heavier springs. So those should counter the fuel tank. In the end they have it figured that with a driver. Even in the 70s they figured heavier springs on the left if the car was otherwise balanced.
Full tank would be 138.6 pounds, a lot lighter than today's typical driver. (how many guys here really weigh only the 150 they figure in payload numbers? Be honest. I've not seen that in years. I've not seen 180 in a few years. )

The differential being offset doesn't matter as it's unsprung weight - someone else mentioned that.
