At the risk of exposing how new I am to offroading.....

My understanding is beadlocks are to keep the tire on the wheel when aired down well below recommended pressures. Normally the air pressure within the tire keeps the bead of the tire on the wheel. Air pressure works in all directions, so keeps the bead of the tire on both sides of the wheel.

Beadlocks appear to be used/installed only on the outside of the wheel/tire. Why is there no beadlock for the inside of the wheel?

Isn't the inside just as susceptible to losing the bead?

I'm sure I'm missing something, but could use an explanation.

Thanks.

The outer bead is the one most commonly lost when aired-down far enough. It is much rarer for the inner bead to be lost.

Some rims still do have inner beadlocks too for more "hardcore" applications.

Yeah the inside can be prone to breaking the bead but that's pretty darn rare,on my old jk I used to use gorilla tape to stop the tire from burping air on the inside of the wheel, and with wrapping the duck tape around the inner bead the tire has a better chance of not popping off or burping out air at very very low psi

Hutchinson‘s bead locks use a big plastic sleeve inside the wheel which pushes on the inner bead per se.
