THIS ALLL DAY

I know you want stock experience, but just some meatier tires would be the best bang for your buck. Don't need anything huge either unless you want to traverse some obstacles, just better traction. Check the member marketplace and you'll see Rubicon and Mojave takeoff tires are pretty readily available. I've always had positive experiences with the member marketplace

I caught a stock one on Imogene Pass. Was damn impressed when you consider a vintage Land Cruiser punctured a fuel tank and another one rolled that day. Not shitting on old school Cruisers, I dig them, just pointing out the trail was rough and they had a bulldozer up there fixing sections of it.

Nice! Is that a dealer tag still on it?

Dang, I want tires bad. Gonna have to wait though, at least a few months. Planning on driving through the forest service/fire roads in Nantahala this weekend. We will see how they do.
Should be fine. Maybe air down a bit to make it more comfortable.

Jeep stands for Just Empty Every Pocket.
Here is mine when I got it and a year later.

Thanks! I will keep an eye out. I gotta get off of this forum or I’m gonna max out the credit card ?

Any tips on airing back up in the field? I have a compressor I could bring but no way to power it.
You will need something 12v based to run off the battery.

Many options, most will say ARB, but Viair, smittybilt, others are available. Powertank is another option.

I use a slime pro series twin cylinder which is adequate for my tires going from 20 to 36 psi x 4 but it's pretty hot by the end of the 4th tire. When I tried 16 to 36 on a 90+ degree day it shut down midway thru the 4th tire. After it cooled down it worked again.

Search here for many opinions on the topic.

I bought an ARB Twin. Amazingly handy investment.
Til then I was always wheeling near a discount tire or big o and getting my free air checks.

I went up Imogene and all over that area in the late '70s in my CJ5 with H-78 tires. There were Bronco's and Scouts along also.

It's beautiful. If you are comfortable on a shelf road with a nasty drop, it is a bucket list trail for sure.
