Yes, Jeep should upgrade the strength of those tabs. No, your break is not a warranty issue. When you modify a Jeep, you assume some risk. I ripped mine out long ago. I then spent about an hour fabricating a bracket support out of some steel bar I bought at Lowe’s for about $10. The only tools I used were a jigsaw with a metal blade, and a drill. Good luck.
BTW- What suspension are you running? Your Jeep looks great.
Pictures please.

Jeep is not required to do anything other than ensure their FCA manufactured parts will work on their FCA manufactured vehicles. They don't "need" to do anything.
So says they who drive stock Jeeps ... Jeep fully knows that people install lifts onto their vehicles. A simple reinforcement of this bracket would solve this issue. Or Jeep should stop promoting the off road capability of their vehicles...

Preach on!

It was broken by an aftermarket part that stressed the tab to beyond it's design limits.

Next..........
... and simple searching will show many many reports of this adequately engineered part failing.

Next ....

Question - why put heavier sway bars on the rears of these trucks?

1. Decreases rear chassis roll.
2. Decreases rear traction, while increasing front grip or traction.
3. Faster steering response in high speed corners and chicanes.
4. Decreases understeer (more oversteer)

Is there an understeer issue? Problem with steering response in high speed corners?

My understanding is this has nothing to do with a lift but has to do with a stiffer rear sway bar which adds stress to those tabs. If there was a lift and the sway bar links were simply longer with the same sway bar the stresses should be the same.

The real question to me is: Was the correct sway bar for the new geometry of the lift installed?

Dunno, sometimes people don't think the system but just start putting parts on that are cool or others have.
I'd do a lift and not replace the sway bar unless I determined there was oversteer or understeer. With a lift all you need is longer links from axle to sway bar. I'm more for one step at a time.
It's possible the new sway bar wasn't necessary, just links sized according to the lift. 2" lift, links 2" longer, etc.

Well when I do my Hellwig upgraded sway bar to account for the camper and added weight. Guess I'll be welding on some heavier tabs.

Very well stated obrianmcc !!!

Guess I see this as a morality "do the right thing" issue as much as a "fine print" legal warranty thing. I expect the dealer, who knows this should not have happened to do the stand-up honorable right thing on this $60,000 vehicle!!

Yes !!

Oh....an as for the geometry, the AEV Geometery correction bracket was added....As well as the Helwig sway bar made for 0-3 inch lifts. They do make a 3"+ bar but I added the correct version for my 2" lift...

Other than the bracket/tab that ripped out, is there anything left in your front end (other than the axle) that is JeeP?
