we're going to have to stick a temp probe to get the truth.

it's environmental. like when you go outside on a cold day and come in and run your hands in hot water. feels scalding.

30* day, come inside to a 70* home. Feels sweltering. 60* day, come inside to a 70* home.
that's true, but it was flippin' 15F this morning when i went to the city recycling center and realized how much i was missing my JLU's sizzling hot steering wheel.

Having said that, I do have an IR cam so will take a measurement

Heated steering wheels are typically designed to reach a maximum heat and then maintain that heat level. I’d imagine ours are like that. On some cold days I leave mine on and it gets toasty but never too hot for more than a moment or two. And it cools off a bit.

On my 2020, the steering wheel gets hot for about 10 minutes and then warm for the rest of the time.

Warm but never hot. Cheaped out and only give us one setting because Jeep knows what everyone’s ideal comfort level is?
On one of my former motorcycles the heated handgrip setting when it was on high was so hot I could smell my leather gloves baking.:like:

I just got my 2022 JTR and I'm noticing that the heated steering wheel does not heat up nearly as well as in (formerly) my 2018 JLU. I wish I took temp measurements in JLU, but that steering wheel would heat up to the point, if I held on tight to it, it would be almost too much. In JTR, the wheel gets lukewarm. Wondering if it's something Jeep changed after 2018 or it's an issue with my JTR. Anybody has any knowledge/experience?
The JL wheel is HOT as F. A reason I did not get it in the JT.

I have a 21 JTR and my heated wheel gets very hot! I’ve noticed it’s not equally hot on the entire wheel. Feel around for the source after it’s been on a few minutes. I usually turn mine off after awhile, too hot ?

I think it is just hit or miss with no rhyme or reason.

My early 5/19 build Gladiator steering would reach nuclear in about a minute. My 6/21 build Gladiator takes a couple minutes be being noticeable warm

The steering wheel in my 20 JT gets so hot I usually turn it off once the cab is heated up.
Sort of depends - normally mine does get plenty hot like that. Then at times after driving it about 30 minutes it calms down. But some people would find it uncomfortable at times.
For me it's great -arthritis, Raynaud's. That very warm steering wheel feels great. Happiness is a warm wheel (or is that gun?)

my 2020 Sport Max Tow got much hotter than my 2021 Rubicon… anyone know if the steering wheel wrap material used between trims is different?

Yeah I’m in the same boat as others. Mine gets hot enough that I need to turn it off, I even have a steering wheel cover
