If I was a no questions asked, just make it cooler than anyone else, sport star and taking it to a custom shop to make it badder than the rookie that just showed up… well yeah… cause I said no questions asked lol… but for me… I’ll stick with my dual top combo.

I’ve owned convertibles with power tops, and will never go back. Nothing is more frustrating that the rainy day when the top decides to have an issue and won’t close. I’m forever a manual up down Top person from this point forward. I don’t even like power moon roofs because of clogged drain lines. Give me a manual mechanical top any day. And sedans with fixed roofs. :) But that’s me.

Not a fan. I would just love to see the OEM top be able to drop on to the back of the bed like the JL top does on the top of the rear door. I know there is concern for loss of use of the bed but I think the top sitting on the top of the bed with all the space underneath accessible would be just fine for me. Simple 2 steps like the JL. Leave the sunrider section retracted with man bun (full use of bed), or continue to retract to have top fall on to the back of bed. I know the rigid corners of the JT top may bring some engineering complexities into play but its doable and would look so much better than the bikini rear corners on this very expensive ugly aftermarket top.

This has been posted before in other threads where we want a soft top that goes all the way to the back. No one wants one that is stupidly expensive or powered. I'd take a zip/velcro/buckle/button design that goes behind the back seats. The bestop looks retarded to me on a hard top, I don't like the hard top with the front being soft top look, it's terrible. I can take my freedom panels off within 1 min and have them stowed and onboard the truck within 2, that's convenient enough for me without spending another sum of too much money for a flip front top. Really disappointed so far with the top aftermarket :(

Get a speedometer cable repair kit from NAPA. Use the cable to clear the drain lines.;)

I feel the same way, plus I got multiple places I can store the rear of the hard top if I need to take it off and grab it back, work, home, a few different bldg's that I manage across the area where I live.

I tried hd weed trimmer string once, but couldn’t clear it. Cable sounds like a good plan though. Could never find the hole in our last Cherokee. Oh well. Traded that for the gladiator. :) Thanks for the suggestion.

People who get upset over the "man bun" are overly pedantic.

Or, brace yourself, you could just understand that people have different opinions and there's no reason to accuse them of being a certain way because they disagree with you. Wild notion, I know.

For me, the man bun soft-top just looks half-assed. It's as if Jeep couldn't figure out a good way to get the retracted top behind the seats without obstructing the bed, so they just said fuck it and left it sitting on top. It's the vehicular equivalent of people who walk their dirty dishes all the way to the kitchen sink, but are too lazy to take 3 more seconds to open the goddamn dishwasher to put the dish where it belongs.

Well clearly this aftermarket solution is no better, if not worse.
I did say above this is not the answer that anyone wanted. In this thread and the other where it was posted months ago. We should have a JL type soft top that folds behind the back seats, full stop.

The softtop not folding all the way back is ridiculously over stated and at over $5k this is not a solution (to a problem that doesn't exist).

The only good thing about it is having color options. A problem that could be solved if we could convince bestop enough buyers would want it.

The soft top is fine the way it is and works perfectly for my needs. I don't want the damn thing sitting in the bed causing me to lose space that I actually use with the top open and it looks fine. The whole man bun thing is ridiculous, just stop.

I also like that I can leave it on as a sun shade with the back window out because they are separate pieces. Something it looks like this 5.5k monstrosity can't do. Plus this is uglier up then the man bun is open.

So to all you engineers who seem to think Jeep's solution is half-assed, what's the alternative? You have it fold into the bed which looks great at the local mall but doesn't work with a cap/rack or if you actually have things back there. You can have it behind the seats but that either means you (1) move the seats forward and have impossible leg room, (2) stretch the cab and the chassis, or (3) stretch the cab and shorten the bed. Every one of these options is a horrible alternative to the man bun.

It's the downside of having necessary space behind the cab that the JL doesn't have. IMO Jeep should have just blown it all off and done a one-piece cab but I know I'm in the minority on that one.
