Why didn't Jeep foresee my stupidity?

My friend's mother and father returned home from visiting and exchanging Christmas gifts with them and their grandchildren. Pull into the under house garage and leaving the gifts in the car's trunk till morning.
They never woke up. They had accidently left the car running and it filled the house with fumes.
I may have made lite of the OP's situation, but in truth, accidents happen.

What work did that entail?

I had a muffler shop do it, I didn’t have a welder, cut it would, shape and weld in a straight pipe, done. Someone does sell a clamp on kit too. I think they remove a resonator and the muffler though. I wanted to do one price at a time, very happy just the muffler being removed.

ESS was on but obviously not 'active' at the time. Agree ref CO but this is a huge, ventilated parking garage under the apartment block, CO couldn't have got to dangerous levels thankfully.

Simple fix - diesel. It'll make noise every time you get out... unless you turn the engine off

What noise ? ... mine is so quiet you can't hardly hear it running standing at the muffler... now when I turn it off.. different story.. we get to hear a buzzer for a few minutes...lol

The tachometer still at idle should be a dead give-away but "being aware" is not a skill these days. Not trying to start a dumpster fire but basic operation procedures and thinking go a long way.

I can say I've never left it running but have actually forgotten that I shut it off and turned it back on to realize that it was already off and I just restarted it.

I don't the Jeep is too quiet for me, I think I just have the radio too loud.

Exactly!!
With the button you are negotiating with software and for such a critical control its just not smart. Ask Boeing!

Car makers could improve safety and usability with a switch that functions like the old key ignition instead of a silly button.

I hope not. If it is, I hope there is an opt out. I Understand why they added it. I just don't want it. I wish they would make it chime instead of honking the horn. I think it should make some sort of sound. But honking the horn is too much. Especially 3 times. Once would be more than enough.

mine chimes all the time and i don't know why. I just always look at the tach plus i always have music on so if i open the door and the music is still on i know. I do agree the horn would be annoying.

I started mine to warm it up for my wife the other morning, and left for work with my set of keys. She didn't think anything of it got in it and drove 4 miles to work with no key. Got out and had no way to restart it, lol.

I sure wish mine would do that. I have lost count how many times I have parked gotten out, locked the truck only to find out later it was still running.

I did this in my old Ram while I was at work. Left the damn thing running for 6 hours before building management sent my office an email (embarrassing).

I fixed it by throwing a Flowmaster Outlaw catback on it. Never forgot to turn it off again lol.
