have fun flipping over in that short little Jeep
IMO, it's not really the wheelbase, it's more the fairly narrow stock track width. Even so, I've only been on 2 wheels (momentarily) twice. Screen shot from a gopro video, 'corrected' to level:

I had the YJ balanced on two like Joey Chitwood while chasing the liquor store robbery perp. He was caught.

Except when towing. Or highway comfort.
I have a Navigator L for towing and highway comfort with the whole family ;)

but ya I have lived with a 2 door CJ as my only vehicle in the past but I’m too old to pull it off these days.

Thanks!

It's a bunch of fun with 33s, especially in Rubicon X form. Very unassuming.

I'm fully armored, HD steering components, with a Prorock 44 up front and a custom-built HD Dana 44 out back (thicker tubes, HD brackets, fully welded center/tubes). Speak softly but carry a big stick.
Thats a hell of a sleeper rig for sure. If you don’t mind me asking, how much did the prorock 44 front setup run?

armor is first on my list along with the 33s.

IIRC, it was just a little over $5k, but here's the way I got it, fully assembled by Northridge:
Factory 4.10 gears (not aftermarket, not Dana SVL)
Dynatrac Crush Sleeve Eliminator
Factory e-locker
Factory input flange
1/2" wall thickness tubes
Artec LCA skids
Dynatrac ProSteer ball joints
Synergy 2" shock extension brackets.

I installed my own front axle shafts & outer knuckle assemblies.

If I wasn't putting so many miles on it I would have loved to lift it higher and run some 40s but that just wasn't in the cards for my daily driving needs. My local group is mostly Wranglers, a square body Suburban on tons, and some buggies. Most of the time I was running some of the easier trails and then parking it and riding with the others.

I've seen some amazing builds on here, but unfortunately I didn't have the budget for a full build and a separate daily.
Other than terrible gas mileage I daily drive my Mojave on 40's and still wheel it hard as well. I totally understand making the change but I'm partial to a Hydro Blue Mojave. Still drives better than stock on-road and being lifted on 40's helps not destroy your jeep on trails unless you just do harder, dumber stuff.

Your rig is one of my favorite ones on here and I agree Hydro Blue Mojaves are by far my favorite color/trim combo.

What gears are you running in the axles and how many miles are you driving a day? I do about 120-150 a day and that 15mpg was hammering me in fuel costs. Not to mention wearing out $300+ tires.

But aside from the budget aspect, I had no qualms at all.

That’s not too bad. I had forgotten about the JK factory D44 not being quite as beefy as the JT D44 so that will have to be addressed sooner than later.

Thanks for the info and that’s a bad ass front end.

No, not too bad. It's a little bit of a tough pill to swallow at first. Especially when coupled with a complete new rear axle assembly, and the fact that my factory axle assemblies were in perfectly good condition. But, I saw it as an investment in peace of mind, and it made selling the pair of stock Rubicon 4.10 axles much easier because they were a bolt-on set.

The older I get, the less I want to worry about damaging stuff.

I went from a 2 door JK to the JT so I understand. It’s one hell of an adjustment, especially offroad, but so far I’m enjoying the challenge. All the easier trails I was bored with are fun again. Good luck and enjoy the short wheelbase.
Same…needed more room for fly fishing gear ??

I'm running 5.13 gears and I'm only at about 13mpg. I average around 50 miles of daily driving. Luckily I'm a business owner and I factor the cost of gas into my bids.

Almost breaking a taillight convinced you to switch? Easy there...ha ha. If you truly off road your going to break something on any rig. The length isn't a big deal it actually helps more then hurts. Unless your really getting into some crazy rock crawling which I highly doubt since your worried about breaking things. Hopefully you enjoy a 2 door which is too small for off-roading I think. 4 door JL is just the right amount of length. Anything shorter is too unstable.
