Just buy a Jeep with the 5 inch radio and call it a day
That’s the suggestion of the day. Solves the problem without disabling stuff.

What does it do different than using the fob?
Farther away. You can start it in the airport parking garage when you touch down, as an example I’ve used many times. Warm car from miles away.

They both activate the same remote start system in the truck. The FOB sends a signal to a receiver in the truck, that then sends a message to the truck computer to start the process. The range is limited and the only response is the horn honking if it starts. The Uconnect system uses the cellular network to communicate with the FCA servers. The radio in the truck receives the message to remote start. It sends a request to the truck computer to start the process. It then sends a message back to the FCA servers, after the process completes, with a success or failure result, which is displayed by the app (or web page).

Yes. No range limitations. You can start it from anywhere on the planet. app talks to the mothership. Mothership sends a start command to the truck via telematics.

Key fob - direct from fob to truck. 300' range limitation.

Fob is instant. reach for fob in pocket, bush button twice and truck starts.
U connect you fiddle with an app for 45 seconds, then a minute later truck starts.

And all of this is a terrifying reminder that Jeep can start or turn off your truck whenever they want to.

Who really owns the truck when the manufacturer can disable the truck without your consent??

I'm not blaming Jeep specifically. This is the case with nearly all new cars.

You own your computer. Ever hear of wake on LAN? It’s been around for probably two decades. You own your car. Technology makes it more convenient for you to use. Please let me know why you think an auto maker would have any interest in starting your car.

I'd be more worried about them being able to stop my vehicle!
I can imagine the finance company working with the manufacturer to disable the vehicle if you're later with a payment, don't show proof of insurance, etc.

An easy solution would be to make your payments on time. They don’t need to disable your truck to find and recover it. Repo companies are pretty good at their jobs. If it’s stolen though, it can be disabled so YOU can recover it. Hmm.
