Has anyone not purchased the Technology package and successfully added the factory GPS operating system?

im coming from an F150 and i know i can buy the OEM hardware items and use Forscan to install them and turn them on.

Is there a similar procedure for the Jeeps? The only item in the tech package i really want is GPS.

I assume by "GPS" you mean the factory navigation system?

2024+ went to a different system for GPS navigation. If you buy a vehicle with a base radio/infotainment, it will have the GPS antenna inputs but the base head unit will not be software enabled for GPS navigation nor do I think it is switchable with Jscan or similar.

At a minimum, you would be looking at a new Global Telematics Module and infotainment head unit that is navigation capable. Even then, you may be VIN locked out as the premium systems with GPS Navigation enabled talk through the Global Telematics module that have a GPS signal input from the infotainment head unit that transmits to the mothership for verification and OTA maps update.

To date, I have not heard anybody do this. Most would tell you to just use Waze or Google maps from the smart phone device through Android Auto or Car Play.

Just a FYI the 8" Nav radio is great when it works... high failure rate as with all Jeep Nav radios.

Is it the same as my wife’s 2018 journey?

If you're buying a new Jeep Gladiator or Wrangler, the infotainment will have nothing in common with a 2018 Journey. Entirely different software and screen. The 7" and 8" Uconnect ended in the '23 model year I believe.

I meant the one that was mentioned that was garbage. I can tell the 2026 is different
