Hey all. I’m sure this is covered ad nauseam and I don’t mind digging if you point me to the right thread(s)— btw I’ve been searching for the keywords tonneau covers in this forum, but nothing has popped up useful— .

But I just bought 2022 Sport S, love it and wanted to know what hard tonneau covers you like.

1) I think folding or rolling kind. I want to preserve the most useable space out of the bed. So I like the folding that allows the last panel to be propped up in some way, or the rolling kind to be able to be tied up.

2) I might want to(but not necessary) prop a tent on top of it or want two adults to sit on top of it.

3) needs to be pretty secure. So I’m thinking hard(aluminum or reinforced plastic) types. I’ll be storing expensive music gear occasionally for several hours at a time. Also… Can those cable pulled ones be defeated with coat hangers these days?

4) like #3 needs to have some pretty good water protection(I know they aren’t 100%)

Any pointers/favorites and reasonably priced ones please…

TIA!

I use the Bak Revolver. It is a hard cover that rolls. It is mostly out of the load carrying area when rolled open. It installed easy and has functioned well. IMO the cover is not made for commercial purposes. I have looked at bed racks and the mounting of same. It looks like the Revolver will work with some (not all) bed racks. Considering bed covers start at about $200 the Bak Revolver is on the pricyer side at over $1000.

I prefer hard tonneau covers. I bought the Rough Country one. Overall, I give it a B+. The materials and craftmanship is not as good as I'd expect. However, functionally it works great. Keeps contents dry and secure.

We have the Bak Bakflip on our Ranger.
It's extremely well made and fits great. I think it checks off all of your boxes.
But it's not cheap.

I have the Access Literider on my Gladiator because It works with my Bed Rack, but I had to modify it to make it work. It was not expensive, so I was ok with cutting it up.

I’ve had hard folding and soft folding. After a lot of use with various models, I think the Bakflip revolver is the best of both worlds. If I had to do it over again, that’s what I would have.

Can you stand or sit on top of the revolver? Does it support any weight?

I put the Tyger T5 hard tonneau on mine a couple weeks ago. We’ve had every season but summer here in Michigan since then. The bed has stayed dry. As far as can it hold weight? It seems sturdy enough, but I’ve had no reason to test it. Seems like a nice cover thus far.

Eh. I think it’s like 400lbs evenly distributed. I wouldn’t walk on it etc. had one on my Chevy Colorado. Pretty nice though.
