Whether it's push to start or it's a regular key, that doesn't have anything to do with the jeep phoning home. Those are two different things. Also, even vehicles with normal keys all have chipped keys now, so I'm failing to see the difference, if that's the concern. There are many vehicles with turn keys that still have connectivity. Think every OnStar vehicle since I don't know when. Also I think one of my Subarus used a key, and still had app access, but that's been a couple of years now.

All accurate, and most "keys" are really not really a switch. The JK with a key is still RFID and the turn of the key simply asks the computer to start it, EXACTLY like a pushbutton. People are just clueless (which is not a judgement until they start making shit up) about how things work and see "key" as something it's not.

My Chevy had a key - although you could unlock the door with it in a pinch, you could not start the truck with it........ yes, a chip.

Does anyone have the circuit diagram for desoldering the internal lte antenna/cellphone transmitting circuit? As someone that's in security, I don't want this on my vehicle. I also prefer not to give away information for free, considering that these trucks are overpriced for what you get. I am also wondering if this is tied to anything that would hinder driving the vehicle.

The antenna is on top of the roll bar, but you'll lose satellite radio and gps too.

I'm always sorry for customers who get someone who is unnecessarily and uselessly paranoid. As a network and security engineer for over 30 years, I've seen what it does to people who are forced to do inane things and shorted on features for reasons that have no benefit.

Yeah? Well my uncle works at Nintendo.

You should have your uncle show you.

I added one for a friend who didn't have it stock. Remove the dome light trim, and I think the light maybe. Remove or raise the hardtop. The antenna is there, IIRC held by just one screw. Unplug and remove. You don't lose the other antennas as they are all separate.

Is it in the center where the srs airbag is labeled?
It's right under the roof (or soft top) behind the front seats, facing the sky. I think the lte one says jeep on it, and the one next to that (the plain one) is for GPS and SiriusXM. I'm keeping both. Need to have my satellite radio. My jeep doesn't have lte, because I have the 7 inch. But if it did, I'd still keep it. But you do your thing.

That is relevant, why?

My interests/concerns/experiences are hands-on, first-hand.
I also worked in security - Principal Financial Group (your 401K may be there), network and endpoint security; State of Iowa - network and endpoint security and worked with the guy in charge of the cell phones we owned.

My worries and concerns are far far bigger than who knows where I am, or what my driving habits are. If you use a cell phone at all - that vehicle isn't even close to what's going on with phones and credit card usage.

Don't care.

I don't get a discount for them to receive my personal data, therefore, they will not get my personal data. No security paranoia, no tin foil conspiracy, non of that. You don't pay me, you don't get it. It's that simple. If people had this mentality, we wouldn't have ford patenting targeted in car ads for their new entertainment systems. These companies get bailouts, post record profits, and expect me to just give me that information to them for free? nah, sorry. Gonna have to give me a discount if I'm going to beta test your future Software as a service business model. Plus those features are redundant anyways. There's really zero benefit for me to have them.

On the other hand, without associations and alternative incomes, your truck would likely have cost you $3,000 more.
This is the day and age of merge or die, find other ways to get income or go bust.
It's a global market and things can be made cheaper elsewhere no matter where you live (meaning even if you live in Korea, things can be made cheaper elsewhere)
You are going to pay one way or another - either through marketing arrangements or a bigger sticker price.
If you have any money in any place other than your mattress, that money is invested some place and if it's not making xx% then it gets moved to where it can. If FCA isn't where it can make that percentage, the money goes to where it will or can and FCA loses.........
You think I don't get it or understand? I do...... likely more than you.
