I started the return process today. It was a gamble to make the purchase. There are just too many things that bug me about this top. The fit/finish is the big thing. No amount of fabric stretch will fix the A pillar door surround gap or the plastic thats supposed to fit in the channel on the back corner. And there is just so much Velcro, that stuff only lasts so long. Also, for those that keep the top, I included a pic of the back folded under the “sunrider, it looks doable, but I’d definitely fasten it down with a couple straps.

Anyways, I guess I’ll keep my eyes open for other products. Disappointed.

Thanks for sharing. I was eager, but couldn't wait 'til someone here post pics and comments about the installed product so I ended up buying something else.
I hope the return process goes smoothly and you get most of your money back.

Just sitting out in the sun today helped it stretch and fit a little better. Got to drive a little bit with it opened and closed. It makes some noises when open, but nothing crazy or really unexpected. It wasn’t much louder than the hardtop at around 45mph. Tomorrow I get some highway miles with it so I’ll probably post another update. It’s already growing on me, and I love flipping the top open and going.

It looks good! Now I'm getting excited for mine to come in, and oh yeah the weather to warm up a bit more...

If you get a chance to share any video on opening/closing (including the back) or photos or any further thoughts, it is much appreciated.

Please keep us up dated. Very affordable. Wind noise on highway would be my one concern, but heck, I'm half deaf anyway.

This morning I had it on the highway with it closed.
I have the 7” radio with standard speakers, and I’ve never done this “test” with my hard top to compare.
Under 50mph volume on 8 normal fm radio I could hear everything just fine. 50-60 to be able to hear as well I had to bump it up to like 11, 70 I had to go to 15. I have one tunnel about a half mile long to go through, that was pretty loud. We maintained around 45mph through the tunnel, and I needed the radio to be closer to 20 to be able to hear it as well as above.
Temps were mid 40s and without the heater on it got a bit colder than it would have with the hard top, but still not too bad.
Hopefully later tonight on my way back home it will be nice enough to have the top open.

Thanks for all the pictures and info, y'all. One thing I'm not quite understanding about it (maybe I'm being dumb - first thing in the AM); to get the full "topless" effect, do you have to completely detach the whole back window/side panel/etc. assembly?

Happy I went with the dual top option on my build. Weather permitting I’d send this all day every day

Yes. You’d have to take out the window and corner pieces. Window is held in by zipper, Velcro, plastic in the channel along the tub rail. The 2 corner pieces are in by Velcro, and the plastic tabs…. All of that is secured to the top by straps. It seems as though I took pictures of everything except the straps that secure the corners/window to the top. Anyway, you would have to detach all of that in order to fold it up to store over the sound bar. Like I said earlier, I’d definitely put a couple straps on it to secure.

Just the front top open on the highway at 70 was fantastic. No extra flapping or weird noises or anything. No retention strap, but it never seemed like it was going to blow up or anything. Felt secure. No difference than having the freedom tops off, other than the two seconds to open it and maybe 5 to close it when I got home.

I just put an order in yesterday for one before the sale ended. I will use the hard top in the winter so this is a nice weather only option and it’s a third the price of the oem soft top. I appreciate everyone who posted about their experiences with it!

Yes, I absolutely plan to put the hard top back on in the fall as well.
I think I may try to run mine through a car wash this weekend to really put it through the dry test.
