I guess its all about needs and expectations.

I do a fair amount of highway driving in the winter. My daughter competes in freestyle skiing. So lots of miles. I have the hard top for that.

In the summer, its mostly around town and I don't really care if it pulls perfectly tight in the back or the rear window sags. (I've got a cap so you can't see it anyway).

To me its not really competing with a "real" top. Its competing for my money with a Bestop Sunrider.

I was between both the besttop and mopar top when this came out and it seemed more like a mixture of both worlds.
It rained a good bit last night, some puddling on top but nothing too bad or unexpected with a flat soft top. Everything inside was completely dry.

Took it through a car wash today. Toward the end the passenger side leaked a good bit (when I say a good bit, I mean it made my door wet, not a ton of water) down the door over the handle, and a very small bit in the driver side in the same spot. I’ll have to see if there is something I can do to tighten that spot up. The back corners felt damp on the metal, but nothing was really wet behind the seats or anything.
I doubt I’ll take it through anymore, mostly because I don’t like the pressure the dryer put on it, but it was a pretty good test.

Good to know. Thanks for the test. Have you tried with the top open front and back?

No, I guarantee that would leak a ton of water inside!!

Haha just kidding, I have not tried opening the back part of the top yet, haven’t had a good warm day for it yet.

Haha. Well I suppose that would be an easy way to clean your Jeep inside and out, all while taking a shower…

Keep us posted if/when you go fully open.

So I installed mine today. It was cold and windy. I will echo the prior comments about waiting for a warm day, it would have made life much easier. Also, the instructions arent great as has been mentioned. Anyway, it seems the front of the top barely touches the gasket at the top of the windshield frame. Anyone who has installed one know how to adjust the top forward? Also, where did you place the strap hooks around the sound bar?

I don’t have much help with adjusting it forward, mine goes all the way up.
I tried to get some pics of where my straps attach, hope that helps. Also after a few days my back window really smoothed out(though kind of hard to tell with the rain), and my top got much easier to pull, for fitment. I wasn’t sure at first, but I am very happy with this top (except for the latches) I keep asking them if they have plans to redesign the latches but they don’t answer me.

thanks for the help! That’s where I put my middle straps too. I’ll get it in a heated shop tomorrow and see what I can do.
The back window being smooth is the only thing I got right today!

After a few days you should be able to easily pull the pillars up a little to make the bottom of them fit more snug, and the top corners will pull down more for a better fit too. I think just being on in some sun helps stretch it out a little. Just give it a week or two of being on and subtle adjustments for it to be right.

So to follow up on all of this: First of all when I assembled the frames the brackets that bolt the top frames to the roll bar had fallen out of the bags that label them front and rear. So I had two switched and that wasn’t letting the right front corner of the top sit correctly, causing a lack of contact w the gasket at the windshield. I figured that out and corrected the issue. Then I left the top in a heated bay all day an adjusted the top again. I have it in much better shape now. It should settle more with time, I hope, but for now its way better. A few pics for those interested:

The truth is, even in pictures, its not as nice as oem. Neither the low end one nor the twill. The man bun of the OEM may look dumb, but the fit just looks nicer when closed, opens both halves, removable back...and its oem quality.

As far as price goes...Just buy it on craigslist. they run between $1000 to $1400. I see the $1000 ones frequently....they tend to be "used a couple months" and the $1400 ones are "forced to buy as package and still in box"

If I buy aftermarket its because someone finally made a brown or tan one.

I agree that the OEM one is nicer. I’ve tried to express that with my posts on this topic. If your looking for the nicest soft top on the market, this isn’t it. However, I got this on sale for $800 and a new OEM one was $2500. I waited 7 months for the mythical facebook marketplace or Craigslist soft top. I never found it. If you can, go for it. I would have!

I've never seen a new or used Mopar soft top for sale anywhere near around me.

Any updates to how the top is working out? Has anyone tried folding it all up in the middle and driving around, I realize it would need secured in some way.

I figure I would use the hard top for fall/winter and the rest of the year if this thing is any good I would have it all folded in the middle except if it's going to rain or if I want to wash it.
