This post is to determine the level of interest in such a product, and ask for you to give feedback and share your priorities.

If there are existing products to carry the doors in the truck bed, please point me at them! I couldn't find any. I really just want one for my own use. I have a design but some pieces have to be custom manufactured. I could have them made for myself nearby. In case there is broader interest I have been in touch with a manufacturer of similar products who will read this.

Couple of Notes:

1. Hitch-Mounted Systems. I'm aware of at least one for Wrangler doors, and some that are designed for other purposes. These could probably be modified to work. If carrying the doors behind the truck on a hitch mount works for you, please let me know with a comment.

3. For me personally, doors in back seem kind of vulnerable in traffic, messes with my rear electronics, and the racks are big for my storage space. I would prefer in-bed storage. There are drawbacks:
A. You have to lift the 50lb doors into the bed.
B. You have to get into the bed to attach and secure the doors.
C. The doors will take up a good deal of bed space.
D. The doors are upright so a tonneau can't be closed when they are in place.

4. The design objective is to be as simple, small and cheap as possible while handling freeway speeds and light trails. It’s not a system designed for wheels-off-the-ground off roading.

So: Before I have a one-off made for myself, is there enough interest to justify involving a larger manufacturer?

I can’t see the need or use case personally.

Too heavy, too much risk putting them in the back, taking them out again, and they'd have to be really secured so they couldn't budge even a little bit.

I can’t picture a scenario in which I would be so comfortable that I would run door free (no weather or security concerns), but that I would feel the need to bring the doors with me.

I throw my front doors in my bed all the time. Can’t make it work with the two rear doors in there though at the same time and my bed cover. Sometime it’s just a beautiful day you want doors off. I literally just did this the other day at a gas station and just threw em in the bed, takes two mins. Best part of Jeep is easily taking these doors off, I feel like I’m in the crew at the Indy 500. Here’s a picture with my top doors off and my bed cover still on, it fits easily, and I still have a ton of tools, chairs, chairs, sports balls etc in there. This truck is so fun.

While I like the concept, I really just want half doors so I can pull the soft uppers and toss them in the bed on nice days. Come on Mopar sell them to us.

I'm curious if you ever do anything about this?

I wouldn’t put my full doors in the bed, but wouldn’t mind a way to store my soft doors more easily. My preference would be right inside the tailgate.

I've had my Gladiator for a month. I've put nearly 4k miles on her. Sadly, I don't have any soft doors and hate going overnight without my doors. Since this thread is 2 years old and I have not found anything to haul the solid doors, I'm guessing nothing ever came of this.

Correct, nothing came of it.

After speaking with some folks who manufacture similar things the conclusion was that there is very little demand for a bed-mounted door holder.

Between simply leaving the doors at home or at a campsite, plus optional half doors and tube doors, it’s a small target market. The weight of the doors was also a limitation on the market , many people would have trouble getting them in and out of the bed.

I must admit, that saddens me considering I'm about to do a proof of concept on a couple of designs for this. I cannot imagine you and I are the only one's who would want something like this, especially if the weight of the unit is negligible.

I am currently trying to figure out a simple wooden rack system for storing just the front doors (stock) flat in the bed. I work 6 & 7 days per week , and when it’s too chilly out at 4:30am driving to work, but nice at 4:30pm… I’d like to pull the front doors and Freedom tops and cruise home 🤔
