I'm new to Jeeps, but it seems to me like having a motor vehicle-centric event that also includes heavy day drinking is just a dumbass idea. If I want to hang around my Gladiator and drink, I'll do it when overlanding or something, where I don't need to get in and drive before I sleep.

Never understood these events. I like small get-togethers and trail runs. This forum is cool too. But thousands of people all driving similar cars paying stupid prices for all accommodations? It just turns into a bunch of bro-dozers and stupid crap like this.
Okay I’m old so I had to break out my urban dictionary. See old dogs can learn new tricks. Or at least new terms.
Bro dozer
A pick-up truck that the owner took to the truck accessory store and said "give me the micropenis compensation package." In other words - lift kit, oversize wheels, off-road tires, hub spacers(because the oversize knobby tires and wheels aren't taking up enough parking already), light bar, and a trailer hitch. It'll never be intentionally taken off-road and the trailer hitch will never tow anything.

It's when you take your mall crawler and turn it up to 11.

Other qualified mods are an angry eye grill and a winch you've never used.

I never see this crap at EJS in Moab. The one “major” event I attend. I guess true enthusiasts versus the douches looking for a party.

Whatever floats your boat, BUT don’t ruin it for the rest of us. As said, I bet the Jeep to asshole percentage was quite low.

Thanks for this, @aceisback - my old ass didn't know what a bro dozer was, either. Saved me the extra typings on the inter webs.

90% of those assholes have probably never heard of Moab, so I'm sure that helps to keep the secret within the circle.

I was on the Island for the weekend but decided not to go because it was a shit show last year and was shaping up to be the same this year. I spoke to handful of Jeep folks who went and they said all the crap was not from the true Jeep Crowd. Things started off nice but then the young and drunk showed up as well as other unwanted elements. Trucks, ATV's, etc just trashing everything. It of course doesn't get played out in the news like that. Seems there is talk of trying to figure a way to restrict who can attend as its gotten out of hand but no idea if they can work something out. The bad press for the area might shut them down. The other event held was kept low key it appears as I only heard very little about it.

I’ve seen this posted on the local FB pages too. That beach is close to Houston and there was some 80k down there.

Our club was at a different beach further south and while it was like being at spring break, we didn’t have those kinds of shenanigans.

It was also prom weekend for a lot of the local (Houston area) schools and tradition is for the kids to rent a beach house together and go down there after prom. So on top of everything else, you had minors down there getting wasted and acting stupid because it's so crowded that law enforcement can't possibly keep up with it.

I've seen some shit happen at Moab. One night, someone unspooled the winch, threw the cable over the roof of an old FJ and hooked it to it's rear shackle on the receiver hitch. Then energized the winch. The winch tried to fold the FJ up. Seen that in the morning when I get up.

The next night. Someone took the cable from a Jeep and looped it around a old Bronco. Looked liked they tried to squeeze the Bronco into two.

When synthetic winch rope first came out. It was a hot item to get stolen.

I call them bro Diesels, basically every diesel truck in the Orlando area not really used for actual "work"

F250 that's never seen a trailer! 22" or whatever size tires wheels that stick out whistlin exhausts rolllin coal lights underneath, all that crap,

I always get eyes cut at me by dodge, ford guys not many GMC guys, and never has one ever said anything about going off road!!!! My neighbor had and has Duramax's he's said take it off road and it'll sink in the soft dirt mud sand, bad idea!

I read about this last year and the poor people that put it on said its the wrong crowd and alcohol, which just sucks for the people just wanting a nice time!

I miss Jeep Beach every year! not planned, just out of town, lol

I have gone to the one in OC Maryland, what a cool bunch of people, I was invited to go to PA. by like 4 different people in an afternoon and then the dinner they had was huge!!! and tons of crabs!!!

When did you go to the one in OCMD? Because while I love the place, it seems every (and I mean every) vehicle weekend there just turns into the Woodward Booze Cruise when the sun goes down. Watched a guy die there few years back. Pedestrian hit by a drunk driver who was gunning it from light to light. And that was classic car weekend, I can only imagine what bike week or eurorice weekend turn into.
