2020 Jeep Gladiator needs a new engine !!

So my jeep has 77,000 miles on it and will be 2 years old next month, I dropped it off because of a small ticking noise and they say I need a new engine !! the warranty on the 2020 is 5 years 60,000, this is infuriating

You didn't get the Extended Warranty?

Since it's out of warranty, and still runs, drive it until it quits, or trade it in on something else.

Eh, sounds fishy. Try to get a second opinion. Ticking doesn’t mean it’s necessarily damaged/dead yet, but can be a tell-tale sign of looming failure. If you catch it before that you can swap out the failing components which is much cheaper than a complete engine.

I am in a bad spot, I declined the extended warranty, I have not had an issue with a new care in a long time , I still owe about what its worth, its only 2 years old , so I am in a tuff situation, If I trade it in I will still owe, I did hear from the dealer I can file a claim with Chrysler, but they wont do anything until its taken apart , 1,800

Try running a tank of premium gas through it. Mine started a tick, but mid grade and premium solves the issue for me. Reason to go premium at the start is to up your octane level of whatever gas you have in there now.

Man almost 80K in two years your rolling that thing. Sheesh mine only has 23K on it after little over 2 years but thankfully I don't have to go into the office but twice a week. I picked up the extended warranty on mine but the dealership pulled a fast one and swapped their warranty papers for what I thought were the jeep warranty. Have not had to use it so far

New engine for "ticking" - really?
That's usually valve train - followers/rockers, cams, that sort of thing. To replace the engine for a valve train issue?
Maybe it's a rod knock and not a ticking?

They could fix a ticking with a box of parts they can carry in their arms if it's ticking - valve train issues.
Maybe they just hate DIAGNOSING or spending time actually trying to troubleshoot and find the real problem - eh, we'll save ourselves some time, make some money and swap engines.

Maybe it's just me, but I see red flags when I see "ticking" and "new engine" in the same sentence.
But again, these days they are parts swappers, not troubleshooters and repairers or techs.
Not sure why we stopped calling them "mechanics" and use the word "tech" instead.

Extended warranties are not warranties but service contracts. Ask Ram guys with CP4 issues and “extended warranties” work out for them. It’s the cancel culture thing.

Depends on what you get as far as how well it works out. People need to read the details. We've had 'em that worked great - total repair satisfaction.
And twice we've had companies send us refunds on their own when they found out we'd traded.
There's still honest companies out there that follow through.
The issue is that there are so many companies, so many versions - even FCAs own have variations, and no one reads them first.
People also need to read the FCA warranties before they buy another other sort of protection for anything. The wrong combination can leave you stuck in the middle as they fight each other.
We looked over a couple of contracts that plainly said "READ YOUR CAR MANUFACTURER'S WARRANTY BEFORE SIGNING OUR PAPERS".

The very word "warranty" - you can't "warrant" or "Guarantee" something you did not design, manufacture or supply.

Has me thinking about that extended warranty now. When friends of mine and me have blown engines in the past, we just bought junk yard motors and paid to swap them or swapped them ourselves. You might want to get a second opinion before you go that route.

It's worked out well for us on the JKU. Just know what covered and what's not. We only purchased extended for the powertrain on the JKU. So if anything not powertrain breaks, it's out of pocket. But I knew that going in.
