The primary benefit of the diesel is MPGs right? Both while towing (by alot!) and unloaded. That's the only reason I opted for one in the Ram I had. Given there isn't a ridiculous cost difference between gas and diesel where you are (personal opinions on that motor aside) I'd say do it.
Rear section isn't heavy at all, just big and awkward. With a tonneau cover I just unbolted, flipped it backwards onto the cover and lifted it off. Surprisingly easy. Did it in reverse to put it back.
I think you have a pretty solid idea. I just went with the Rubicon because I didn't want yet another vehicle that I had to modify a bunch to get where I wanted. I just bought the one that already had the options I wanted. I use my lockers a lot, just to prevent needing them to "get me out" of a...

My onboard air switch is under the hood with the coupler for convenience.
I run empty most of the time. However, I bought them due to the bouncing while towing and loaded for camping. That's where they shine IMO. Trailer is 1900#, 1300# UTV and 2 dirt bikes, so that's 500ish on the hitch? Plus gear in the bed, wife and 2 kids in the cab. I think you will be happy with...
Not too familiar with the voswitch but typically there would need to be a relay between the switch and the controller. The switch would trigger the relay which would then power the controller.
For a long time I ran a ARB twin mounted in a box with jumper leads. It worked well but always took up space somewhere in the Jeep. I recently mounted it in the fender well. Doesn't take up space and it's always with me. Just my pitch for a permanent mounted solution. That VIAIR 450 looks legit...
Is that only in the sport models? I thought it got more aggressive in 4Low (at least with Offroad+). I'm not sure, I just use the lockers since I have them. Gonna have to play around with it next time I go out.
Fair point. But I still don't think that's enough reason to not get one. I don't see class action lawsuits as bad as everyone else I guess. Seems like they rarely benefit the party since you have zero say in the final agreement. Still, it's a drop in the bucket compared to the number of engines...
Dude, the 3.6 Pentastar's reliability is way above average. It just is. You're upset, understandably so, but getting on here and telling everyone that the engine is shit is just wrong. YOUR engine was shit and that's unfortunate. I had extremely bad luck with the Ecodiesel but I try to refrain...
