On/off switch for winch controller

I got a voswitch in my gladiator and I’m wanting to wire on of the switches to the winch controller where the controller only works when the switch is on… how do you wire that? I did it the way I thought it worked and it still stays hot constantly…

Not too familiar with the voswitch but typically there would need to be a relay between the switch and the controller. The switch would trigger the relay which would then power the controller.

You need something like this and then your switch wires to the low amp activation of the hi amp solenoid/relay

The voswitch has an external box that goes under your hood that has 8 relay switches in it with a ground bust bar

in all honestly it’s a pretty sweet switch panel the way it mounts into your oh shit handle and looks factory

Me too. You mount the winch power wires to the relay and then hook the trigger wire from the relay into the Voswitch box.

if you want a simple engine bay switch i did a battery on/off switch inline with the positive cable

I used the Warn Power Interrupt Kit with my winch install. Also, I have the Voswitch switch panel. When using the Voswitch with the Warn interrupt kit just leave the switch supplied with the interrupt kit out of the install, your Voswitch will be the control (switch).

True - with a switch that kills power to the whole winch, then no controller can work -
This was my 2020 -

This is my 2022 - the winch power wire will go to the empty post on the solenoid. The solenoid is controlled by my aux switches. The aux switch connections are in that terminal strip seen here.
The solenoid is the one others linked to in this thread - the Warn "interrupter".
I'm waiting for my bumper powder coating to be done but the wiring is ready to connect to.

Any thoughts on the amperage in the Voswitch on the power for the relay? The Voswitch comes with 30 amp fuses for each switch and recommends downgrading them for low power accessories.

Are you referring to the solenoid for the winch? Or the relay that comes with the Voswitch?
The winch solenoid like in my pic would only bein the 2 to 5 amp range, most have said about 2.5 amps

Fuses are to protect wiring, so you want as low amperage a fuse as possible, and match fuse to the wire doing the work.

I have the Voswitch and love it ,the fuses are 30amp and all relays are 40amp, you should pull the fuse and put a much lower rating in there o protect what ever you are wiring to., as ShadowsPapa said.....Jack

The wires that come with the Warn solenoid can't be any larger than 18 or 16 gauge tops.
In my case, there's only a few inches of wire from the terminal block where the Jeep AUX switch wires are over to the winch cutoff solenoid. I used 16 gauge wire because I have spools of it in all kinds of colors for other work. It was handy.

Orange from #3 goes to power the solenoid, green is ground from the other solenoid terminal. Both are 16 gauge.

(the white wire on #4 goes back to my Oracle LED backup lights)
