  1. Original Jeep Truck

I had a ā€˜61. Main difference was the 1 piece windshield. Had a flat-head 6 and 4WD. Loved that truck. Think I sold it for $1200 in the mid ā€˜80s.
  2. Delete push button start, go back to keyed ignition? The rfid brick has to go...

I’m a boomer. I like the push button start. No keys hanging from the column and scratching it up. I just hate the oversized fob. There is no reason for this thing to be so big. One button to lock, the same one to unlock. It would be nice if it fit on a key ring in a normal pocket. Don’t need...
  3. Would you drive this

Melt them down, my friend. Deep in the woods, wearing my mask......
  4. Would you drive this

You bet I would! Straight to the tire / wheel store for a rescue! But only with a mask on to disguise my face. Let’s see....where did I put my old ā€œTricky Dickieā€ Halloween mask.....
  5. Overall who's pretty pleased with the power output of their Gladiator

Coming from a guy who was dropping Chevy V8s into ā€˜50 and ā€˜60 era CJs and M38s 40 years ago (some with 5:38 gearing!), I’ve got to say that I’m pleased with the performance of my JT powertrain. It is a near-perfect balance in every way. I give it an A+.
  6. Opinions: bed cover options?

I have the Under Cover Ultra Flex. It is fantastic. The thing that sets it apart from other tri-fold hard covers is the ability to fold it flat against the back of the cab when you need the full bed length. It removed entirely in about a minute, too. Expensive? Yes. But totally worth it. If you...
  7. Rear window

I have the Sundowner for Hardtop and it is super nice to open the rear glass, crack the back door windows down a bit and go. Very smooth and reasonably quiet. I think it is great that the slider is standard and not an option. Power would be nice , though.
  8. JT20 Build

My son sent me this pic right after I bought mine in September. Don’t know where he saw it.
  9. Why don't they make a Gladiator that looks like this....

That’s very true. In 1973 they had the CJ-5 and CJ-6 (long wheelbase version of CJ-5). Standard engine was a 232 IL6 with options for a 258IL6 and 304V8. Trans option were a 3 speed manual and a 4 speed manual with a super-low 1st gear. The Gladiator name had dropped odd of the pickup when AMC...
  10. Spare Tire Delete

My mistake! This looked like a 6 lug wheel when I first saw it. Thanks for setting me straight. Yes, a very nice looking wheel, indeed.
  11. Spare Tire Delete

bluedevil1 said: I took the spare out from under the bed and put it in the bed. Cool, but that’s not a Jeep wheel. Did you do an axle swap?
  12. Gladiator Tailgate opening by itself

I had it happen once. Dropped about $125 at Home Depot. Stuck the bags in the back under the tonneau cover. When I got home and started to back in the drive is when I noticed something wrong in the back-up camera. Quite an ā€œOH SHISKIā€ feeling! Luck was on my side, though. The Line-X kept...
  13. Can you buy a manual right now?

I am so glad I bought my manual when I did (Sept 30, off the lot). I would have never even considered another automatic, especially in a Jeep. I tried to order a Gladiator from the local dealer in Gobi and they called back after a couple of hours to tell me they couldn’t order manuals for some...
  14. "Truck" or "Jeep"?

I called my ā€˜60 Willys a Jeep truck, sometimes the Jeep Pickup, same for The ā€˜67 M715 I had. No surprise I call this Gladiator a Jeep truck, too. As in,ā€ look for me in the gray Jeep truckā€. Now, when I’m talking to the grandkids or the dog I may say ā€œget in the Jeepā€ or ā€œhop in the truckā€. But...
  15. Magnetic JT Armor, Thoughts?

I had a magnetic tank bag for the Harley for a while. After a couple of good scratches I got rid of it. When I’d store the dang thing it would pick up anything that was ferric. Bits of dirt, chips of tiny metal from cutting or grinding something. I would look, feel and inspect the thing when I...
  16. Sunglasses - where do you put yours?

In the cubby on top of the dash. Isn’t that what it’s for?
  17. Bed mount for freedom tops?

My freedom panels are sitting in their storage bag on the PLYWOOD floor of my attic. The Sunrider is on for food!
  18. Tennessee Toilet Paper

Here’s a good video on making your own mask
