Yeah, solid axles are cheaper and perform just as well as independent suspension, which is why every luxury and performance vehicle uses solid axles instead of wasting money on more complicated and useless independent suspension systems. 🙃
I have yet to find such a place in the US, where is this mythical place?
And I can say with certainty that my old Xterra with a very mild lift would destroy any equivalent live axle Jeep in desert running. We had a Jeep tag along on a trip with a group of Xterras for a circumnavigation of the...
Reminds me of taking our LJ on Steel Bender - which lived up to it's name. I didn't think a 4.5" lift and 35"s would face much they couldn't handle; one nasty undercut was just too much, I couldn't even get a tire on it and just ran straight into it with the bumper.
We ended up swallowing our...
I'm of the "Keep it until the wheels fall off, then weld them back on and keep going" mentality. I don't like buying new, but I also hate buying someone else's problem. It's possible someone just keeps cars while they are under warranty and sells them on, which can result in a good deal. I'm...
I have the full size one and it works well, I haven't tried it's Mini-Me, but I'd be worried about lifting a fully loaded truck and having enough height to be useful.
If you go for it, let us know how it does.
Apparently they aren't. They were always a rung below Car and Driver, but this puts them on the same tier or lower than Gawker. Even Jalopnik's writers back in the day cited their sources for major scoops like new models or major design changes.
It's because the auto-blog and YouTubers will lie their assess off for views, shares, and comments. They know anger is a strong emotion and it's weaponized to create engagement - people need to learn to recognize it and not feed the trolls.
The same thing happened every year after the Xterra...
I just looked up the Bridgestone and they are supposed to be 80,000 mile tires - assuming it's a half-tread depth OE garbage tire, you should have still gotten 40,000 out of those.
Bad toe adjustment will chew though tires quickly, go get your alignment checked to start.
24,000 miles on the stock Falken Wildpeak is pretty horrible, and 28,000 isn't good either. Those should be 55,000 mile tires before getting down to 3/32" tread depth. Something is going on with your vehicle that's eating tires twice as fast as it should.
IFS is not bad, I ran that setup for over a decade and there are things it does better than a live axle - but off road articulation isn't on that list.
If this rumor is true (which I doubt) hang on to your trucks, they just became collectibles.
Tougher than a bumper built for cosmetic reasons; no way I'd trust that thing in a recovery. I know they are a sponsor, but Hooke needs to just be honest here and change their name to Mall Crawler Unlimited.
They have a point, the bolt-on barwork does make it easier to replace when it gets...
For style alone (no airbag, but being impaled on that steering wheel would be a stylish way to die)
But one of the best interiors in terms of controls and feel was my old Volvo. Big chunky switches and knobs that throw with a satisfying mechanical "Ka-Chunk!" And an analog clock.
And then...
Spacers are a hard "No" from me. Adding one more point of failure is never a good idea, just spend the money and get wheels with the correct backspacing.
