Thank you! I used a heavy twisted wire wheel to scuff the entire surface, then wiped the entire thing with Acetone. I have a small torpedo heater underneath keeping the metal warm throughout the process to hopefully aid with adhesion.
Thank you! And you are seeing the exact reason I decided to build my own. Granted, some of the options are impressive, but I have yet to see one that makes me say "damn, that looks good" in terms of fitting the body lines of the Jeep, especially with the soft top models. Mine is far from...
First coat of bedliner went on this morning. I'm waiting for it to set-up before applying a second coat. I am loving it so far. It should match the color and texture of the soft top pretty well, I think.
We are but a few hours away from BE, and It is definitely on our bucket list of places to hit. I'll be following along to gain some insight on your trip! Have fun!
Took it to work and used the overhead crane to lift the top off. Wow... So easy. Got the driver's side struts mounted. They work perfect. Did some other little odds and ends in preparation to bedline it.
I'm honestly not in a rush to get it done, and my plan is to lift it off next weekend, put the first coat on Friday night, let it set, and recoat it Saturday morning. I cleared it with one of our mechanics at my job to use a bay in the shop for a few hours.
Thank you. I think I learn something new every time I work on it so it's been a massive learning process, filled with trials and errors. If I had the time, better resources, and a shop, I would definitely consider custom making things like this.
They are brackets for E-tracking clips that I use for hoisting the top on and off, and also I will be using it as tie down anchor points for lumber, kayaks, etc. And yes, I believe it should hold an rtt as the frame is 2 in aluminum I-beam and the uprights are 2 inch by 3 in box channel.
I've been driving around with the top on for a few weeks now and doing small things to it here and there when I get time. Ordered gas struts for the doors, but they were a little too short and did not hold the door up as much as I had hoped, so I ordered stronger, longer ones. Hoping to get the...
I have to say that Oracle has been top-notch with standing by their warranty. I am on right-side taillight #4, and they have replaced all the prior defective ones without hesitation after I followed the required steps. I stick with them because of this. I also have their bumper reverse lights...
I know I'm a little late, but I have the Redarc Manager 30 in my trailer build, and I absolutely love it. Super simple to use, easy to set up, and is fairly compact. I chose it over other avenues, because I wanted everything in one unit to conserve space and simplify wiring, and it also safely...
I have the exact same tire as you, and they are the best tire I've ever had in the snow. Great road manners and great tread life. I have over 30K on this set, and they barely look worn.
