Diesel. I would've passed on the JT if there was not a diesel option. Having an underwhelming 3.6 gas motor in a heavy Jeep just does not make sense. The diesel power plant just never seems to lack GRUNT. Don't buy the JT for all out speed. It's all about the low end grunt.
As for the...
Strickly for the bed. I needed a truck. But I also wanted a fun vehicle to go offroad. I would use the JT for light towing. But if my main purpose is heavy towing .... then a full size turbo diesel 3/4 or 1 ton truck would be my choice.
I get it if you have been using the diesel HARD it is wise to let it cool down before shutdown. Hopefully common sense.
But this is a modern vehicle. The average buyer of these vehicles are not as bright as most of you on these internet boards. I have to believe that the car manufacturers...
Yep. Modern motors mostly look like crap. I miss those motors with the polished valve covers, stainless steel lines, etc. etc. Even superchargers, turbos are usually hidden. Modern manufacturers just have no pride in showing a mechanical masterpiece. Probaby comes down to money. Always does.
Funny. So true. I find it interesting that so many here actually use the manual shifting in their automatics. I'm sure there are times when towing up a hill or low speed obstacles ... you need a particular gear, but it's not like you are at the drag strip trying to break the 10 second 1/4...
Congrats on the amazing mid-life crisis build. Just a heads up. One mid life crisis usually leads to another lol.
Curious if those who have the 5.7 swap are second guessing their decision. "Oh. I should have just gone with the 6.4"
Exactly. Everybody is different. Just buy what you want. OP throws out an opinionated statement and everybody wants to disprove OP with their own personal opinions.
I bought diesel because I've had both in full size and based on MY past experience ..... I would never buy another gas truck...
A Bronco is not a jeep. I wanted a purpose built Jeep with a singular vision. Not a vehicle that is trying to please a large audience. No jealousy. Could care less .
I ordered a fully loaded JTRD. Do yourself a favor and install the mopar 2 inch lift. Fixes the bottoming out issues and frankly ... the JTRD just looks great with a small lift. I also have a 3/4 inch front spacer to level the truck. Like another poster mentioned .... I would not have bought...
I don't have any of these issues since I ordered my JTRD with the mopar lift. I cannot believe Jeep Corp or FCA allowed these Jeeps to bottom out. No testing? All that R&D.
Portage glacier?
I grew up in Anchorage, Alaska. Wheeling/offroading whatever you guys want to call it was routine in Alaska. Just getting to work in a snow storm was an adventure lol. I bought my JTRD to explore Arizona, Sedona, Flagstaff area. Can't wait to accumulate some priceless...
