Um, I didn't do any of that and mine appears to work fine. I just changed my tire size via Tazer, did a couple ignition cycles, and rolled with it. 13k miles later with 35s and I don't recall having any issues. Most definitely didn't disconnect my battery at any point. Perhaps its because I...
I believe the light does go out after a set period of inactivity.
I'm trying to remember here, but I think the numbers are supposed to be green when there's a trailer (I presume that has e-brakes; does the SERE trailer have working e-brakes?) plugged in. They turn red when the brake is...
I've heard a lot of people have been having issues with the Yukons in the Advantek D44s. No idea what the true problem is, but I've heard that quality fell off years ago and I've also heard that they still sell regular D44 gears in place of Advantek-specific gears, which apparently are different.
If it turns out to be the case that they are pulling power all the time and not just when it "senses" a hot clutch, I will be livid. I paid for the HP/TQ, I expect to be able to use all of it. Even if that means I have to put an aftermarket clutch in it to do so.
Conversely, I can't understand how someone could choose a Jeep with an automatic. Choices, my friend. Choices.
Anyways. Back to the thread about manual transmission JTs and their abilities regarding towing...
I'm pretty sure it only pulls power if the nanny sensors think you've subjected it to conditions in which the stock clutch would overheat. If you aren't slipping the shit out of it, and it's not giving you an overheating warning (pending you've had the recall update), then it shouldn't be...
Oh, I believe you. I'm just genuinely curious why.
Stock on the left, your setup (theoretically) on the right:
Hopefully you can read the small print from my phone's screenshots.
Clutch slipping? Using a true 36" diameter tire as a safe calculation, these are the speeds you should be running with the D478 tranny, 1:1 transfer case ratio, and 2500rpms. Pending this calculator is correct (which I assume it is since its what everyone uses), your speed vs rpm seems off. 37s...
Your math seems off. Did you adjust your settings for the new gears? In 4th, you should be pulling waaaaay less RPMs than what you stated at those speeds. For reference, he's the calculation for my exact setup with 35s/5.13s (34.6" true). So yours should be pulling less RPMs than mine.
Are...
Yea, they aren't spectacular at towing. I've got stock 4.10s in my JTR 6MT on 35" STT Pros and IMO it's inadequate for towing my 7x12 open tandem axle with my SxS on it. I take it down to Tennessee a lot to ride from Ohio and it gets pretty mountainous once I hit Cincinnati. I keep it in 4th...
