Its a personal thing. Mostly from looking at block lift kits in the 80s. :CWL:
But a spacer kit does have compromises. You are getting the lift, and the associated clearance for tires while keeping the stock ride etc... but you will miss out on added articulation and benefits of a taller...
The Mojave has 2.5" remote res shocks compared to the monotube(?) shocks on the Mopar lift and Rubicon. It also has hydraulic bump stops and some taller springs with unique spring rates.
I don't generally love OEM suspensions because they are a compromise but I am seriously digging the Mojave...
I have a Mojave and don't want to give up the sweet suspension. After some high speed desert blasts, I feel like the engineers came up with a fantastic product that works out of the box with the stock tire/wheel size and weight.
I don't really trust spacer lifts so I am stuck till I can get...
My friend had that setup on his JKR. He had a shop do the work and they were proud of themselves for figuring it out. They wouldn't give me a tutorial on how, and I didn't bother to look around to see. So yes it can be done. I don't know how to pull it off.
You can see in this comparison. The area in front of the windshield hinge on the Mojave is flat going forward. On the Sport/Overland/Rubi it starts a bit lower and slopes downward going forward. Then on the side cowl piece in front of the a-pillar, again it is almost flat coming forward from...
Installed Kikbax mirrors. Totally satisfied with these. Pop right on, solid, very little mirror vibration. Wife and I love the pegs for hanging a leg out the “door”.
I loved 4.88s and 37s in my JKU. If I was going to wheel, I would have gone to 5.13 or 5.38. But as a daily driver, I kind of feel like the 4.88s were the sweet spot. That was never towing, just mostly daily driving and the weekend warrior wheeling.
With the 8spd, I think you would be...
Made a contraption to hold the roof in the little bump out corner of my garage.
I built a shelf out of a 1x4 and mounted it a few inches away from the wall. I made it with two pins that stick up through the board to catch the middle two bolt holes in the back edge of the roof and also wrapped...
The suspension is fantastic. Especially on rough dirt roads or two-track. It just blasts over things that would upset the chassis of my JK. Even unprompted my wife said, "You can just feel this thing get into its groove when you get up to speed, it just flies over the big bumps like they...
I need to look again but I don't think the nuts are part of the bearing surface. I know on my JK I never noticed any signs of rotational wear on them. They make replaceable Delrin sleeves for the inside of the hinge and I don't think they are long enough to make contact with the nut at the...
No lift or spacers? Looks fantastic.
Does it rub anywhere? Have you flexed it at all to tell?
I am thinking about doing this in the spring with the AAL light brace and inner fender delete kit.
Also, any head on view pics?
