Thanks, no injuries at all. It's unbelievable the amount of damage that was done. That was @50 mph!! I had just turned onto the road and was still accelerating and it jumped out of a thicket. It was a HUGE buck. Blew my air bags. That's the first time I've ever blown air bags.
I have Core 4x4 control arms on all 4 corners and they are very solid. I went with what they used to call tier 3 but is now called x-crawl I believe. They have Johnny joints in both ends. The JJ's do require some routine maintenance such as greasing every so often. The build quality and color...
As the title states I am the proud owner of a new 24 Ram 2500 HD with the 6.7 Cummins. Man is this thing sweet!! My DD car got totaled the week before last when a big deer decided to play chicken. I needed a replacement and this is what I picked up. Actually my wife suggested I get a truck and I...
I checked my reservoir last night and it's a little low. What coolant is compatible from a parts store for topping off the tank without having to go get it from the dealer? Or is the Mopar stuff what should always be used?
Thanks. I'll check them out too. I'm not even sure if I'm putting it back in at this point. May just do what @WILDHOBO did and go back with the Dana upgrade shaft. They think alot of it though, $1820.
That's what I was going to do and the reason I reached out to the local off road shop. I asked what drive shaft shop they use and she said they don't have one and to let her know if I find one. That's what led me to circle back to shipping it back to Adams.
That's who Outlaw Offroad suggested but that's too far to go for a box. Of coarse I could use that as an excuse to hit Windrock on the way!! Lol. I'll see what what one of the name brand shippers has.
Yes all the weights are still intact. The larger weight on the slip yoke has a chunk ground off it. It's a tough shaft for sure but with a spiraled dent it will eventually break. Before the damage, It's not a bad vibration but it's there. It's always had a slight vibration. It improved when I...
Yeah I'm pretty unimpressed with the shafts. The main plus for me is the availability of u-joints out in tiny town USA if I need them and I can change them on the trail if I had to. Otherwise, it was way too much of an expense for what I got. And there's driveline vibration. Not bad but it's there.
Well a new one is $1050 and I figure I'll probably have $400 in a repair after shipping and all. That's why I was wondering if anyone else has done this. Just to get an idea of the cost.
Good idea and I can ask. I've even contacted one of the local off road shops in Nashville to ask who they use for shaft service. They don't have one. You would think Nashville would have a reputable shop. I'll see if UPS has a box.
I got into some BIG rocks last weekend over at Uwharrie NC. It tweaked the rear drive shaft and now it vibrates worse than it did before. Adams said they will re-tube it and cover the labor but I will pay for shipping and the tube. Anyone ever ship a drive shaft across country? It's gotta go...
