I could almost stomach a stupid amount for a new JT (almost) if when I had an issue I went to the dealer and they said "hey, no problem - it may take a few days, take this piece of crap and drive it for a couple of days while we fix it" and actually fix it without any whining or the run-around...
My JT is a great daily driver and light hauler. Its also fun. I have a 22 Tundra which Toyota threw everything in and finally brought it up to date (they were grossly behind the times with technology up to now).
If I need to go get a lot of heavy stuff or need passenger room, I take the...
Every once in a while I'll mess with the Jeep guys. When I'm driving my Tundra I'll flash a Jeep guy a Jeep wave. I usually get a look like wait..... what???
That might be true - I'm not sure I'm not "a couple sandwiches short of a picnic"!!
But seriously I see the value in both. Jeep knows how to off-road. They've been doing it for a long, long time and have it down to a science.
I just wish Jeep had a better hold on their dealers so there...
I'm on a Tundra forum because I have both.
Nah - they don't talk about Jeeps or much about off-roading. There are some guys who have purchased equipment to bolt onto their beds for off-roading but in general its more hauling and towing. If anything, the compare it to the F150.
Currently, the...
That's a tough one. I know the Tundra's are sold before they even get delivered so its even a bigger challenge to get the options you want. Toyota isn't like Jeep where you have a blank order form and order what you like. Toyota builds what they think will sell in your area based on past data...
I agree that the torque spec is missing and needs some type of clarification, but for me at least (and I suspect a few more) I'm no engineer nor do I have the tools to tighten something to a known specification. In addition, if I were buying a product that said I needed some special equipment in...
I wish I had good dealers/service. I've got 3 dealers in my area. One likes to play all sorts of dealer/switcheroo games (oh it worked just fine when we tested it), one keeps cancelling your service appointment due to the lack of help (starting to believe its the dealership rather than covid) ...
Mine may be slightly high (an inch or so?) I get flashed about once every 2 weeks. One time it was raining fairly hard and it was tough to see. Unknown to me I was coming up on a particularly nasty pothole and some guy flashed me at the wrong split second and I hit that pot hole so hard that its...
This may be the dumb question of the day but are we just talking about a 2 door Gladiator? If so, I'm not understanding the purpose or how that's better than what I have now?
I agree with the tranny issue with the Tacos. They're way reliable but the ride and the tranny shift is horrible. The #1 reason I got rid of it. I had a fully loaded to the hilt one too. You can barely feel the Jeep shift, the Taco is fairly confused when it comes to shifting.
That said...
I would think you could probably do better than that for your Jeep. 37 is their home run knock it out of the park price. If it were me, and I wanted to go with something else find something in the 42 range then maybe an even swap.
If they can be outrageous with their prices so can you.
