The RR kit came with a set of plastic (polypropylene) rear fenders. For the front's, RR wants you to trim the factory fender liners, but I hated the way they looked unfinished, so I went with Paramount ABS front fender liners, to keep things light and to match the rears as best as possible...
Update 3/18/2024:
Fixed the floppy sheet-metal!
Cut and added 1.5 inch thick polyethylene foam. Did my best to shape it with the same flat blade I used to cut out the original support.
Stuck it in the middle section with some double sided tape to hold it in place while I dropped the box...
Used the winch, recovery boards, and kinetic rope this weekend to save a family and their dogs in a Ford Explorer that was stranded in the middle of the desert.
I would have taken better pictures, but these folks had been out here for over 12 hours at this point!
Owner went out there in the...
I'm pretty sure most of our hoods are aluminum. The only ones with steel hoods are Mojave and 392 owners.
I'd say the easiest solution is to use a RivNut (M5?) on one of the open holes. Or some weatherproof 3M double-sided tape.
Copy paste from earlier.
Update 3/15/2024.
Fixed the tailgate hard dropping issue. For once, it was actually easy. I decided to try my luck with a drop in replacement, a DeeZee replacement strut, on the bet that it would be stronger...
It's the same kit as the JL, you just don't use the provided grill insert. As for the key, the fob will fit without trimming, you just have to insert it "buttons up", it will hit the grille if you put the key in upside down. Just remove the rubber cover.
I do have a rattle that I need to take care of, the passenger side tailgate rod is free to move around now that the foam pad has nothing to sit against. Will be extending it to fix that problem.
As for everything in the box, it will depend on what you throw in there, but I took my JT through...
The Jeep has eaten most of the fun car budget, so my eight-six is all I can swing for now.
Dreaming of a manual 392 Widebody Challenger one day though. Although the eight-six is a riot in the mountains and the track.
Eh, it's not the worst I've seen, and Reaper includes taxes and shipping in that price, plus they have 20% sales every three months or so.
Got mine for $650 that way, and with how I look at it, I think the price was absolutely fair, I felt like I was getting my monies worth at that point.
I...
Oh don't worry, I'm already working on that, gonna cut this to shape, and stuff it in between the box and tailgate skin.
Should have a bit of give so that I'm not putting pressure on the outer skin, but will give structure so that it's not pressed in as easily.
I'll post pics of the end result.
Yup, my biggest concern was having the damn cutting wheel "jump" and hitting something I didn't want it to, or cutting too deep.
But those cutting disks ran through the aluminum like butter. Pretty easy job, I think drilling for the RivNuts on mine was harder.
Oh don't worry, my lights aren't wired up yet lol. I have the harness bundled up and zip tied in place to the tow bar support.
I can't decide if I want to run it to my battery or just tap into the existing bed light. Biggest issue is how quick the stupid stock bed light turns off. And I don't...
I will admit, it's an expensive way to add not that much storage. Barely fit my existing recovery gear. For the $650 for the box alone, I could have bought an overhead molle panel for the cab for less than half the price, stored my recovery gear there, and avoided cutting up my truck.
But...
I saw the Black-Sheep model! It's very nice, but man it's expensive! I thought my Reaper box was a bit expensive at $650, but the Black-Sheep is $1400!
Reaper box made more sense for me because I wanted as much space as possible, and it was already bedlined.
Although I do wish I had removable...
I can't say for sure, there wasn't a listing on the website, so I'll give you a rough number.
Given that it's "Aircraft grade Aluminum", I'm going to say it's Alloy 2024, the most common variant. It's usually 0.032 thick, with a density of 0.1 lbm/in^3. Now this box is roughly 47" *10.75"...
And here I am proud of my little tailgate mod lol.
Motobilt makes some nice stuff, I'll have to keep this in mind if I ever crunch the bed on a tree or something similar.
P.S. Let me know if you're interested in selling the Oracle Tail-lights. I could even trade you my stock halogen's if you...
It's a Rebel Off-Road Summit rear bumper, with the optional slider steps. I bought mine in raw steel and had it powder-coated with Prismatic Powders "Poison Spyder Satin Black" to match my Poison Spyder bumper. Coated the grid "Grip Plates" and the plastic bed trim plates with Rustoleum...
