I like the Gazelle T3. It's pretty easy to setup however, if there's going to be any wind you have to stake out the sides or the wind will push them back in. I didn't like the stakes it came with so I picked up some 12" solid steel round steaks which you need in this rocky terrain. It feels very roomy inside with the near vertical sides and there's enough room for me to sleep on a cot and my two dogs to sleep on the ground next to me. I would have preferred the added interior height of the T4 but it wouldn't have fit inside my Alu-Cab.

Nice to hear that perspective from someone who knows. As I plan to take mine to every state I can, especially if there are badges to get there. And I have no plans to modify it for states I don’t reside in. Don’t get me wrong, it’s not a dangerous vehicle for adjacent drivers, but it doesn’t have mud flaps and it certainly has some tire poke. My soap box is the front bumper. I insist on a full width on the road.
This was the way we handled it in our dept but there are always individuals who take the job too seriously. I stand by my statement when dealing with out of state vehicles "unless it is a serious safety hazard" to yourself or others, "have a nice day!". Beware the rookie who's uniform still has the creases from the folds in the packaging! :) or for the military folks "still smells like cash sales" because they are looking to prove themselves.

JT had to take the bench today while the JL got to see new country and visit a body shop to see about a triple layer of clear for better paint protection.

Used the winch, recovery boards, and kinetic rope this weekend to save a family and their dogs in a Ford Explorer that was stranded in the middle of the desert.

I would have taken better pictures, but these folks had been out here for over 12 hours at this point!

Owner went out there in the middle of the night because his dogs got out. Hit a soft patch of sand, slid down the dune, and ended up buried in a "fish bowl". Said he was stuck there since midnight, slept in the Ford and woke up next morning with the dogs outside. He and his family had been digging with a broken shovel for hours by the time I found them at 2pm.

Winched him out of the fishbowl using a snatch block, tree saver, and soft shackles. Then built a bridge using the recovery boards to get him over the small ravine on the other side of it.

All in all a good recovery, got them out in a little over 2 hours, with minimal damage to boot! Even aired them up before they left. Just wished I had water for them. Will be adding it to my kit.

The Jeep performed wonderfully! Was able to power through that sand in tricky spots that would have trapped many other vehicles, and hand no trouble over obstacles I ran into while looking for them. Also very happy with my recovery gear setup, might add a sand anchor just to top it off, and add a mount for a water Pax.

I did have a hard time getting to him between all the sage brush and the tighter terrain though, the truck is pretty big. Fenders are bit worse for wear, but I was planning to bed-line them at some point, just got pushed up sooner. Paint is good except for one scratch in the clear coat that I should be able to remove. Washed it the same day, once the fenders are cleaned up, it will be like it never happened.

(Sneak peak at my next truck )

Also got this text a few days later, they were very grateful! Pretty cool to see.

Nothing exciting like the great deed done by Zero_Accel above. Just some routine truck stuff. Taking it to the mower shop. Need to get a lower drop hitch.

This is after I winched forward about 4 feet to get out of the holes I made.

Published a GoPro video of my ride in the hills yesterday.
this one is going along the foothills and then over to the top of the hill.
I sped it up 2.5x to cut down on the boredom and cut out the sound.
I still need to find some good music to add and work on my production skills so any suggestions are welcome.

adding the trip back down the hill
Same stuff just downhill
