As you have noticed, I am practically a professional tinkerer.

I'd love to add a 2" receiver on the front of mine (it has a nice steel plate below the brush guard that would be perfect) to slip a winch into when needed. I have also considered making a jib-pole to be able to pick things up higher. A little winch would be handy with that.
I’m also on the 2ā€ receiver add on guy list…2 on my work benches for tool holding, wheel grinder, vise mounts, crane mounts (2 each, front/rear of my trailer, one on a free standing mount for the crane. Adding and another to my front winch bumper (You never know if you need another spot to hold or lock something down.)

I love that crane. Awesome uses of square tubing. Damn you’re giving my ideas.

Been there….we winched him back down and he drove away. Not a new picture. Shared before. But seemed relevant.

Way worse terrain in your situation. What broke? Did you pull him backwards back to the top to fix it?

Yeah, he caught his tire between two rocks and broke his tie rod but it didn't stop him and we kept wheeling for another few hours and thankly no one rolled over. This is the thread from that trip if you want to check it out.

Yes. Poughkeepsie gulch, right below the wall obstacle.
Ahh. Ok cool. I’ve heard of it, but never ran it. It looks like some of the trails there that I’ve been on. I tried to hit all the trails I could when I lived there, but not that one.

2ā€ solid steel shank, sandwiched between 1/2ā€ plates w/ grade 10 hardware and gusseted w/ 1/2ā€, built it strong, did some log moving exercises with the trailer on its first job.

It’s a moderate trail, but not bad at all. We didn’t see the roll onto their side, but they described it as happening in slow motion. Based on the terrain, it might have been preventable by turning the wheel and rolling out of it. They stopped forward motion when it started to happen.

Did you build it? Looks stout.

I had a JKU Rubicon when I lived there. I’m sure I could have done it. I actually did a lot of moderate trails and some gnarly unmaintained spur roads in my Pro-4X Xterra. It was surprisingly capable.
