All that and you could have used the Jeep app to track and shut the car down to valet mode and set a boundary lol! Glad you got your jeep back man!
Isn't that only with the Sirius Guardian subscription? - either the free trial or the paid version.

Yes! I would have quick paid for that if my car was missing. I shouldn’t assume he ever set it up to begin with ! Usually the dealer is required to set it up. It takes about 5 minutes to activate it. I have also seen them assist when your car is stollen. I understand not wanting to pay for it but I would have done a quick activation in that scenario.

OP I’m glad you were able to recover your Mojave, even if it was missing a few pieces. I hope they find the scumbags who did this..

I think someone said that the best defense is a layered approach and with the AirTags being so cheap it sounds like a good layer to add to everyone’s vehicles. I keep one in my Porsche and I’m going to add them to the rest of the fleet as well.

1) I did not know it was stolen at the time it was taken... (But I will know of anyone messing with my jeep after I get it back with everything I will be installing that someone is near my jeep, Even if its only my neighbor parking their car next to mine, I will be going to my jeep on every notification of motion)

2) I never had that START / STOP Feature on my Jeep to disable it (Besides THEY RIPPED THE RADIO GPS / BRAIN Out of the Dash the Minute they took the jeep, it would have been useless to track through JEEP / UCONNECT,, I do not know about that Valet Feature and how it works via the Radio which Cause my Radio was no longer installed due to them ripping it out of the dash to disable remote / gps features.

3) when I got to my parking spot and the jeep was already gone and i located it on the Samsung Smart Tag app it was parked and abandoned for at least 2 hours.

From The time I found it missing to the time I was physically at my jeep was 18 minutes and recovered it. After I arrived.. I called 911.. The Police were there super fast after hanging up with 911 Operator with 5 or 6 City of Miami Police Cars.

One suggestion after having all this time to think about things while I am JEEPLESS and waiting for it to be repaired is that these thieves used the OBD PORT To Program a New Fob. I am highly considering Relocation of my OBD Port and having it enclosed in a homemade steel box with a lock to take off the cover to access and hidden in a different place under my dash somewhere. I will also be utilizing the OBD Port for something and will make sort of a hole on the box for the cables to go through.

Plus placing this on the Brake and Gas Pedal wil be a JOY RIDE Stopper !

I am just wondering, what makes you think they went through the OBDII port? The reason I ask is that some of these thieves have been tapping into the BUS junction connector blocks behind the glove box also to avoid the OBDII port and the security gateway module.

One can reference the cases, even reported here, where the glove box was removed to gain access to those connectors.......
They won't mess with the OBD port as it's so much easier to gain full access through other places.

My glove box was locked ... I actually had a $500 UNIDEN SCANNER Mounted in there. They attempted to open the Glove Box and Broke off the Latch ... when I recovered it I tried to open the glove box but couldnt due to the missing latch so under that latch there are 2 small round wheel gears on springs that turned let the latches decompress from the lock to open position,, with a little futzing around I was able to open the Glove Box and my Scanner was still in there ! A huge win for me on that one, So they never could gain entry to get to the BUS junction. Thats why i say the OBD Port is where the security breach attack was made.

All car thieves should face the the same punishment as 1800's horse thieves.

I used this on my old JK with success. And lock the hood, Hope they don't have blasters.

https://www.mobilistics.com/nostart...relay-w-remote-starter-fuel-pump-immobilizer/

Glad you got your horse back. :)
This looks very interesting ... as I sit here thinking about all the future security measures I am going to do and want to do etc...... This relay device looks like another perfect way to disable the vehicle and create more of a time factor for the Thief. The more time they have to spend dealing with cutting off the Club Locks .. and Brake Locks .. and EBrake Locks .. Alarms Sounding ..Alarm sending Instant Notification to my phone and other the other Alarm system sending notification to its key fob & cell for motion notifications outside the vehicle I think $100 for this relay device is not a bad investment ! I will be seriously looking into adding this to my security measures as well. Thank you for this info ! Every little bit helps prevent this Jeep from getting jacked again.

So basically this security relay replaces the current one if I am correct ?

Been following along the last day or so, sorry to hear this happened to you, but happy you were able to recover. Lots of good thoughts on how to better secure our vehicles here, many I haven’t ever considered, some that I may actually invest in. (Air tags, tazer pin and security case, valet mode, obd case, keeping glove box always locked, etc)

That said, I’m a believer in the fact that if thieves want it bad enough, they’re going to get it, whatever “it” is. I’ll do things to make them work for it, but I’m certainly not one to spend gobs of money and make it a huge pita for myself to live with my truck day in and day out having to install a half dozen contraptions every time I park somewhere, but that’s just me. Maybe if it was something super rare or irreplaceable, but otherwise insurance can replace it as far as I’m concerned. Plus, who knows what damage these types of idiots cause that aren’t immediately known. In your case, they only went a couple miles, so I’m sure there is no hidden mechanical damage, but in some cases, you know they’re beating the living piss out of the car when they’re driving it, I mean what do they care.

Well, just my 2 cents…

Yeah if mine gets stolen I hope it is never found or totalled. I don't leave anything of value in mine

I unfortunately work on the run lots of times and need stuff inside my vehicle for my "mobile office" per se. I got very lazy taking things in and out as I'm in the Bail Bond business and I'm back and forth to the jail so many times 24hours a day 7 days a week I tend to leave a few things behind as I am always back to my vehicle within a few hours or less .. when I parked my jeep that night I had just finished posting someone's bonds and was in my place just working in my house on the computer doing bail stuff.. and I was about to go to sleep about 615am for a quick nap but got called for another Bond and this is when I found it gone. I have since just got another 2nd carry back pack and thats where I will keep my mobile printer and laptop. I will carry them into my house after I get out of the vehicle from now on. Its a headache to shlep all this stuff back and forth but I will never want to deal with this headache of having to replace the stuff stolen again. Yes, My Jeep will be empty when I get it back as I am not leaving even a penny in the jeep from this point forward (Except for my Samsung Tags ! =) ).

I actually bought 4 more tags and they will go in my other vehicles immediately.
