It's always good to have a excuse to buy another cordless tool.

I'm going to build a timber-framed style cabin, but laminating dimensional lumber to make up the timbers. I need the width of the boards to be exact, so I rip them on the table saw (to 5 1/4 inches). Everything else is done with battery powered tools.

The picture shows the top part of a bent.

If you're going to do that much work. Just get a generator, then you'll use it for things you never imagined.

As others said buy a Harbor Freight Generator or just buy this:

Or this if you haven't started down the Ryobi path and have batteries ready

https://www.homedepot.com/p/RYOBI-O...tteries-and-Charger-PBLTS01K-PBP004/321812695

They say up to 240 linear feet on one charge. That's 30 8' boards per charge.

The blade makes all the difference. This cordless saw with a new Diablo sharp blade will out perform a corded saw with a duller blade.

Since I bought my cordless table saw and cordless chop saw, the corded ones haven't seen the light of day.

Is it possible to run a 15 amp table saw out in the woods using the 3.6 pentastar as a generator? It seems a shame to buy and haul a generator when there appears to be a perfectly good "generator" sitting right there in the engine bay. I assume I would need a 2000 watt inverter to convert the DC to AC. I would hook the inverter directly to the battery and run the saw with the engine running. All my other tools are battery powered so no problem charging them with the inverter, but I think 1500 watts or so (not counting starting up) might be beyond the capabilities of the Gladiator's electrical system.
The question isn't if a Gladiators charging system can handle the load but rather why use it. It's kinda like using a splitting maul to chop down a tree. Not the best or efficient tool for the job. A lot of unnecessary wear and tear on vehicle and running 4-5 extra cylinders to generate power. Replacement alternator (shorter life "possibly"), plus the inverter will probably cost what small generator does. It seems that your Gladiator running for hours of minimal need

I'm amazed that these new battery powered tools can run a saw on such a small DC battery when the 120 volt a/c saws need 15 amps.
