Anyone want to do a simple run on the 19th? Thinking Anza Borrego meet up at TruckHaven to play on the obstacle course then maybe a short run around to some sites. Phone booth or the arches or wherever as long as it isn’t full send Johnson Valley type stuff.
I have a new (to me) rig and need to get out and do some simple stuff to figure out off road manners of it.
I won’t have a full sized spare until next week so can’t really do anything before that.

Doesn’t have to be Borrego. If nobody else jumps in we can find a trail half way between. I’m about 2 hours south of you or so. I just want to get some dirt on the tires. :like:

Dm me the details 👍 I haven’t been able to take mine out either, just small fire roads.

I have come to find that it’s rather quiet in the SoCal section, which I don’t understand considering JTs are everywhere out here. I can say however that the guys on the wrangler forums are doing trails ALL the time. Might be worth it to check some of those out. Good people, active, and not afraid to take on new trails and members.

Good to know. Appreciate it. Kind of wanted to join some more experienced Gladiators out there so I can get a feel for lines with this wheelbase. My previous experience was with an LJ which was long at the time but this is way more rig than that one was.

Most of the Wranglers that I go with are 4 doors, and there are 3 or 4 of us with JTs that go in that group on a regular basis. You’ll drag your hitch a lot, so find something to protect it if you want to. Skid plates will come in handy at some point if you start getting more serious about off road. I run the Asfir aluminum front to back. They go on sale quite often for less than a thousand bucks shipped. I drug the hell out of mine in Moab. We’ll be doing the Rubicon next year, looking forward to it.

I’ve been eyeing skids a lot!! Thanks for the recommendation on asfir. My first concern was a full size spare. It has a stock spare on there now and 37’s with a stocker just doesn’t seem like a good idea. Not overly worried about the hitch but I’ll get something for that eventually. I’m more worried about the corners.

Yeah both of my corners are scratched up lol. I have a Westin steel bumper to put on but I need to finish the metal work on it before powder coating. The hitch slider will actually save the bumper more than you’d expect. There are used single 37” spares out there for cheap. I had one mounted and balanced for 100 bucks that was almost brand new. Later on I eventually bought five matching tires and never used that spare.
Asfir for me was a life saver

I did the Jeep Academy in that area a couple of years ago - it's like another planet!

I won't be able to make it this weekend, but I would like to hear about future trips.
