For posterity sake, and since this thread was back and forth on the proper part number for the rivnut... It is NOT part# 6511062AA.

It is part# 06513616AA. As verified in this post from AllMoparParts.com, from the soft rollup tonneau cover instruction manual. https://www.jeepgladiatorforum.com/forum/threads/what-can-we-do-for-you.21910/page-108#post-1168184

I haven't installed it yet, but I bought that exact part from their site and it fits the top hexagon hole.

Edit: Successful install. Used this tool https://a.co/d/fgzkTx9 It was $6 more than the Wetols version posted earlier in this thread, but came with 7 more mandrel sizes and longer arms for greater leverage.

The Wetols had many reviews showing it broken, and same with all the other re-branded versions. All these tools are made in China/etc and found under a different names, so I find all the twins and then pick based on cheapest or best accessories.

Same with the one I bought, saw 4 different versions, only 2 under $38. Not as many reviewers to say it's not the same easy to break metal as Wetols, but it's a completely different design. Even the Wetols has 3 versions found under the same link, and the one bought by people here is the one that broke the most in reviews. A gamble either way when going cheap, and mine looked to have a lot of fresh and fake reviews.

Installed the Mopar hard tonneau last night. Ran into the same surprise regarding the rivet nut and lack of tool as the original OP. Like @kevman65 and plenty of youtubers suggested, I used the original hardware that came with the kit, a couple extra washers and some common tools to get the job done. Worked perfectly.

Items Used:
  • Crescent wrench (who doesn’t have one?)
  • T-50 torx + ratchet (comes with our jeep)
  • M8 x 1.25 bolt (included with kit)
  • Large M8 washer (included with kit)
  • 2 small M8 washers (hardware store - other sizes may work)
  • M8 x 1.25 nut (hardware store)
How to use
  1. Thread the M8 x 1.25 nut pretty much all the way onto the M8 bolt
  2. Put the 2 small M8 (or equivalent) washers onto the bolt
  3. Put the 1 large M8 washer onto the bolt
  4. Thread the M8 rivet nut onto the bolt enough to where the end of the bolt is at least flush or sticks out the end of the rivet nut.
  5. Place the complete assembly into the appropriate rivet nut hole
  6. Use the T-50 torx + ratchet to hold the bolt in place so it DOES NOT spin (IMPORTANT)
  7. While making sure the rivet nut is pressed up against the body of the vehicle, Use the crescent wrench to tighten the nut towards the body thus pulling the rivet nut from the other side.
!!!!! IMPORTANT !!!!!
Turn the crescent wrench/M8 nut and NOT the ratchet/bolt

Used your method to install rivnuts for my tonneau last night. Worked great except for I didn't really know how much to tighten and accidentally stripped the first rivnut a little but it still worked. Second one was no problem. Thanks for the info. Bought the cover for $50 on marketplace and my dealership got replacement hardware at no charge!!
