So.... this is a continuation of this thread
https://www.jeepgladiatorforum.com/...ow-a-complete-engine-replacement.90958/page-2

Mojave has been at the dealer for over a month now, the Dealer suggested putting in a 64k KM (I'm in Canada) used 3.6 for $13K, I thought this was a stupid solution as the issued could very easily happen again... So I decided to go with the head replacement for 2-4-6 (left side) complete with new lifters, cams, head gaskit etc... there was supposed to be a hot oil engine flush done, before new oil going in, It was a 7K repair-
This morning, I got a text with a video telling me that the repair was completed, but the engine is still missing with a P0300 code. Their only solution is a complete engine replacement.

I haven't paid a cent out of pocket yet; the Mojave is just sitting there in the lot. What would you do?

I would tell them it sounds like you mis diagnosed what repair would fix it so start again. Definitely wouldn’t pay a cent towards any failed attempt of a repair by their incompetence. Although when I turned wrenches for a living a (properly inspected) used engine for replacement usually trumped any repair on an engine that experienced an internal engine failure. Regardless of any promised type of oil “flush” there are so many ports with tight tolerances that become compromised.

The shop recommended an engine replacement. The OP told them to replace the head and that is on him that it did not work out.

Ahhh… took it as they gave him an either or option. If that was the case the dealership should still have stood behind their repair whichever the choice was. But If that was the owners demand then yeah!!!!! SOL!

Yeah and he is still into it for the initial teardown cost in the first place. Like the first reply to this thread of "CRY" is about right.

Got the compression numbers from the dealer after the head and cam/lifter repair-
Cyl 1-3-5 165/180/175 Cyl 2-4-6 135/130/138 - obviously cyl 2-4-6 they say are causing the mis...
How long do you think I can run her before I start having some major issues? Is there an additive I should be adding to the oil to help with compression in the meantime?

Further to that.... I got to thinking, it looks almost like a valve timing issue, rather than compression... am I right in thinking that?
