GM Authority has confirmed with a Chevy spokesperson that 2023 Chevy Colorado ZR2 deliveries have just started. Production of the 2023 Chevy Colorado ZR2 began last May, as GM Authority covered previously. Production was originally set to kick off in April, but was delayed by roughly a month. Production takes place at the GM Wentzville plant in Missouri, the same facility that produces the GMC Canyon, Chevy Express, and GMC Savana.

The 2023 Chevy Colorado is offered as the “Desert Runner” of the third-gen pickup lineup, running 17-inch wheels wrapped in 33-inch OD MT tires, as well as a unique grille, Flowtie badging, Black sideview mirrors, Black bumpers, and a few other choice bits and pieces.

They would need to offer it with a softwareless transmission before I could consider one.

My previous truck was a 2nd gen and it was a great truck that gave me 0 issues. So I wanted to give GM a chance.

I still have my 1st gen Colorado aka 355 in storage, bought it new in Aug 2004, love that truck.

Needs some body work (tree fell on it) and an LS swap....already have the Gen4 6.0 in the garage.

This was in serious contention for me too. The one thing that totally killed it for me was the back seat. Way too small even given the stretched wheelbase. We go camping and our road trips are in the 4 hour range and there’s no way I was inflicting that back seat on my son.

The use of Multimatic spool valve (DSSV) shocks was nearly enough for me to consider it. Amazing shocks. I'm a big fan of those things, but I cannot buy a Chevy.

In the past I had some reliability concerns, but mostly it is their "design language" (inside and out). Yes, it is totally subjective, but does not work for me.

Anyhow, Multimatic is a great engineering company and it is good to see wide mainstream adoption of their damping and suspension products.

I loved my ZR2 until the multimatic rear shocks both started leaking and completely failed at 70000 miles, mostly commute miles. I was quoted $3200 to replace. Searched for replacements and found 2 OEM shocks for $1000 and replaced them and sold it. Very disappointing but I now have a Gladiator Rubicon! Wahoo!!!

That's expensive and sounds about right for MSRP -- but that's also a lot of miles. The bummer is that there does not appear to be an easy way to have them rebuilt. I saw some chatter over at the ZR2 forums about it. Seems many just go with King or related once they fail.

I'm hoping to only have to rebuild my Mojave's Fox 2.5 by-pass shocks every 30-40K miles and would like a spare set at some point.

Yep, nice upgrade to the Gladiator Rubicon! :)

I like the styling of the new Colorado/Canyon to the point I have been poking around and just seeing what is out there already.

Holy shit what a shit show of a 1st year launch of that platform. Perused the Colorado Fans forum to see what people are reporting after taking delivery and it is a litany of build quality issues.

Gave up on that daydream for now.

I appreciate that. It reminds me a bit of Ford and their relaunch of the Bronco branding. Overall a great job there (I'm a big fan)...except they discovered what Jeep went through many years ago with the removable hard tops (noise, quality, and fitment issues). Soft top issues too, and we're lucky BesTop helped Jeep iterate to a great design for the Wranglers and Gladiators that we have now.

I wanted a full-sized Bronco and was surprised at the variety of early teething issues -- but that's how it goes, right? If you want a Colorado, it will surely be better in a couple years.

Personally, I gave up on the Bronco for a while. I was put off by the issues and price gouging. I landed here with my Mojave because of that. The other trend I really dislike is moving away from mechanical controls for key operations (like the transfer case, e-brake, or gear selection!). That could keep me with Jeep for the foreseeable future...

I was considering waiting to get one of the GM twins but went with the JTR instead. I have seen some non ZR2 Colorado Trail Boss trucks at the local dealer but none of them made me want to stock by and check them out
