Long story, I spent an entire month trying to learn about the Far Out Edition at dealerships between mid August through mid September, and had to educate all but one dealer on the Far Out Edition even existing. I knew I really wanted an Ecodiesel Gladiator Rubicon ever since it came out. Since this was the end of the line for it, I was ready to plunk down my money, and I almost pulled the trigger, but then I decided I was being stupid not to try a find a used JTRD, especially since because of the recall, there might be some good deals out there. all the time I was looking, there was no way to build a Far Out Edition on the Gladiator website.

I ended up picking up a used 2022 JTRD at the end of September from a Suburu dealer in Maine. They had gotten it from Faulkner Chrysler Jeep, a dealer in Mechanicsville, PA. I called Faulkner back right after I bought it because I thought there had to be a story on this JT, and I wanted to see if anyone would share why someone trades a basically brand new JTRD with only 9,500 miles on it, missing a bunch of really stupid stuff, like the front skid pan, some bumper trim, the bolt holder box from under the seat, the jack handle and extensions, the top removal tool kit and all of the owners manuals, a missing tonneau cover, along with having the wrong Rubicon rims for a 2022. I was told when I called there that apparently they sold it new as well, and took it back in trade for another Gladiator from their customer.

Kinda seemed weird to me, but then I thought, I'll bet he traded it for a gasser because of the recall, and had a winch bumper on it, bigger wheels and tires, and some storage thing under the back seat, and sold all the stock stuff off and had to scramble to throw a front bumper back on and find someone selling a set of rubi wheels so he could keep all the parts for his new one.

So I went to our local Jeep dealer today, to ask if the fix was in for the Ecodiesel, and they set up an appointment for me to bring it in next week to get the recall done. Pretty happy with that since it was the first time I even checked into it. I talked to the sales team for the second time, once in mid September, and then again today, and neither time were they aware of the Far Out Edition. Their service seems great, but their sales team doesn't know crap about Jeeps it seems.
Tonight I decided to look at the Gladiator website, and low and behold, you can now build a Far Out Edition, even though it's over a month since the end of the order period, (September 30)and on top of that, Punkin is now shown as an available choice of color. Does anybody know if we can still order a Far Out Edition?

If I didn't love my JTRD so much... based on all of the above, I would give Jeep the middle finger ?
I understand that we have to start somewhere... but to sell out an American made vehicle to China and a current group of people running American right now is just ass backwards. The fallout of pollution and the damage to the earth from these batteries are far worse than diesel ever could be.... don't get me started on the infrastructure... and what about the recalls to the customer base that has provided them with thier current piggy bank to support these stupid ideas.... I really have mixed feelings about this... definitely not happy... gotta think, how long will Jeep continue to support us diesel owners ? I think they are shooting themselves in the foot and I hope it hurts and gets infected.

Hey Michael, Totally agree on everything you said. My JTRD is Sarge Green as well BTW. And it is only how much I love mine so far that made me go look last night at the website, just more out of curiosity. The great thing is when the apocalypse comes, we can burn bio fuel we can make ourselves.

Maybe the Farout Edition should have come with tie-dyed badges and vinyl instead. And based on the Mojave for the beach. Or a tie-dyed soft top.

The special editions are ridiculous to me. They already have a diluted lineup between Sport/Sport S/Freedom/Willys/etc., now they're going to offer special editions off editions?

How about you (Jeep) offer the same colors year to year instead of flip-flopping them. Support the backlog of parts issues? And for all that is holy, cut the ties to the Wrangler so the Gladiator can actually have a better engine for both gas and diesel.

This is a poorly edited picture from a while ago. I saved this picture 12/2020 before i even owned a Gladiator as a desktop back ground. Oddly similar.
