I know it's not JT related, but have any of you checked out the '24 2 door Willys? Looks like a nice compromise between Sport and Rubicon. A guy could just level it out with flat fenders, 35's and call it good. Comes with 2.0T, 8 speed, rear locker and 4.10's. That thing would fly. Optional 4.88's like Rubicon would be nice. They can be had for around 42-45K with hard top.

I'm really wondering how a small displacement with turbo / larger tires will work out. Since everyone is going that way, I'll guess we'll soon see. Won't it always be up on boost? Like all the time?

I had a '22 Willys XR with the 2.0T, with the factory BFG 35's and 4.88's, it literally ran like a Maserati. I could break those 35's loose anytime I wanted. ( From a stop) It was the 12th. and funnest Jeep I ever owned.

Yeah a diesel from 15 years ago. Anything modern is trash.
The ecodiesel wouldn't be bad in the 2 door JL. It's not like you're towing or using that diesel for anything other than torque and fuel efficiency.

That same diesel in the Gladiator though, is not ideal... lol

I love me some 2 door wranglers but the 2.0T powerplant is nothing Iam interested in, even if it makes more power and torque than the pentastar and comes with free flu shot vouchers. Iam pretty satisfied with the 3.6.

I highly recommend you both try out that motor with the ZF 8HP. If I recall, the only problems Jeeps were having was a waste gate issue on the first ones built, and dealers were just installing an updated turbo. The only reason I'm running the golden turd, is because it's the only gasoline option for JT. The 2.0 is ten times the engine.

I tried a jlu 4 banger the day I ended up with the Gladiator. I didn't like the 4 cylinder sound that emanated from the engine compartment when I started it up. It sounded small, like there were only 4 small pistons moving up and down to try and move an over 4k pound vehicle. It reminded me of my 96 geo tracker. Don't get me wrong, I think there's a place for that powerplant in states like new yawk and california etc. where they are used to getting the short end of the stick but most jeepers just have no interest in 4 cylinder jeeps including myself.

If jeep made a roxor sized jeep, about 2500 pounds or less with the same 2.0T powerplant, that would be something else.
