Hey guys. Title pretty much says it all. Looking at the above size tire for my Sport S. No plans to lift right now, although may put a stubby bumper on in the future. Is there any problem width wise (or otherwise) putting them on the stock wheels to save the money? I like the look of the black factory wheels with the black jt anyways. Also, will they fit the spare just the same and will the spare still fit under the bed? Thanks!!

It looks like you don't have the closure panels in yours, the panel that kinda connects the bumper and the fender.....so 285/70/R17's should work fine. I'll be going to those as soon as it's time to get new tires. I took my closure panels out a couple of months ago, trimmed it down to where I could cover my fogs and it looks great.

285/70's will fit without issue ....
Thanks everyone. I guess the consensus is they will fit no problem. I guess the follow up would be how large can I go with the stock wheels and have no scrubbing?

They will fit with the closure panels just fine. No rubbing anywhere even at full travel.

I replaced my tires long before I replaced the bumper.

I have 285/70R17 on my Sport S without the max tow. I also have the Rubicon springs and shocks, but had my tires on before the suspension. No rubbing or issues of any kind. It fills the wheel wells and looks good!

285/70/17’s & Willys take off wheels on stock Sport S. No rubbing. I’ve since removed the fender closure panels only because I don’t like the way they look.
Edit: B. F. Goodrich All Terrain T/A KO 2’s.

Looks great! Great seeing it on a black jeep too. Really gives an idea how mine will look.

JL Rubicon wheels with BF Goodrich 285/70R17 tires, and JT Rubicon shocks - picked up some Mojave and Rubicon spring sets, but haven't had a chance to install either one yet:

After putting on the Rubicon rocker rails - that bumper corner was actually smooshed in when new. Dealer said they would order a new bumper, but I didn't care. Gonna tear it up anyways:

No I went with a Vision Black Steel Wheel in 17" with 5.5" backspacing. I know it sounds like a lot of back spacing but it's pretty much perfect for my set up. They were pretty cheap too. I paid less than $400 for all four wheels with center caps.

Any way you could share a photo? And doesn’t that much offset cause undue wear on steering parts?
