remote started my jeep got in it drove to church to take my wife to lunch. shut it off went inside to get my wife, came back and the starter dragged like a low battery and would not turn fast enough to crank. tried a few times. came back after lunch with jumper cables, made no difference still dragging too slow. came back the next morning with tools. tested the main battery, tested good. tried to started but again dragging too slow. did this for hours. jumper cables and battery charger tried numerous combinations. called Jeep and had it towed to the dealer. dealer called after two days and said they went to read the codes and it cranked right up no issues or codes.
what do i do now?

Devil's advocate, if the tech could not verify the problem, there's not much to go on for him. However, comma, guided diagnostics of the cranking circuit would be physically checking connections, battery test (you've done), then performing voltage drops along the circuit to isolate a potential resistance issue. I believe there are a couple of threads that show how it's done.

check the wire harness that runs past the EGR flange. Sounds like a rubbed harness some where.

I tested the old starter, and it was shorted to ground but not a hard short. I saved it because I didn't think it was the starter. and then after testing it I thought I might find a good shop to rewind it. not sure if it's the stator or rotor is grounded. haven't gone into it. but the new one has like 4 months on it. has to be design issue or quality control issue.

They say no question is a dumb question, so did you check your starter bolts to make sure your starter is fully engaging ?

yea it tries to start. it's not grinding or skipping it is turning the motor over just like it should 99% of the time hard and fast until it doesn't. then it's just chick turn once or twice then nothing. reset to off and try again and it works fine. until it doesn't ever work again. the last time it took 4 resets it reset the first time the 2 times before that (both in the same week a week before the last time) and hasn't given other issues since. that was a week ago tomorrow. been cranking fine all week.

It really does sound electrical then. Once you get it figured out, please let us know what you find out. Good luck with it. ?
