Have a 2020 Gladiator with the 3.6l motor. On cold startup motor sounds great and no smoke. Within a minute or 2 motor idles (bogs) down, shakes, then returns to normal idle with ticking noise and then whitish gray smoke comes out the tailpipe continuous. No reduction in antifreeze and it won’t throw a code. Before I take off the valve and timing covers, any thoughts?

Backstory: I am a vehicle wholesaler. Bought it at auction with a tick. Mechanic replaced a few rockers even though they weren’t terrible enough to cause the ticks. Cams looked great. Still had tick after replacement. Drove 800 miles and it went into limp mode due to a bad cam sensor. Replaced sensor.

In order for me to sell it I want it fixed right with no tick or smoke. At the same time I don’t want to throw parts at it hoping something sticks. Was hoping someone here has had this issue and can give some guidance. Thank you all in advance.

I had this exact same issue with my 2020 Overland. I had it fixed by Jeep at no cost to me. Of course it wasn’t right the first time they attempted to fix the issue but at least it doesn’t smoke anymore. I’m attaching the TSB that they put on in the fix.

Thank you so much for this information. Printing off for my mechanic now. Due to finding oil in the intake manifold last night I am thinking a faulty pcv has caused the issue referenced in this tech bulletin.
