Just picked up a 21 gladiator diesel for the wife, made it 70km before the first cel. Code P2297-00 O2 sensor out of range during deceleration. Have a date with the dealership today, I'll be sure to follow up.

Dealer replaced O2 sensor under warranty. Before taking to dealer cel was scanned by a mechanic using snap on software and he was unable to clear the initial code. Mechanic is a good friend of mine and he has a diesel JL with 40,000 problem free kilometers. Hopefully this was a one off problem.

Classic case of miscommunication. O2 sensor was not replaced, an update to the ecu was performed and cel was off only temporarily. Light is back on, another flash performed at a different dealership was also unsuccessful in fixing the broken part which I'm told is on back order.

Weighing the pros and cons of deleting a brand new vehicle.

Sell it and buy a chevy, move on. If you get bothered by a fluke defect you should cut your loses and try something else and hope the guy on the assembly line of that manufacturer was having a better day.

You may need to do a few drive cycles before the permanent code goes away. This is because of emissions. As of 2009 this is the case for all vehicles made after 2010. See instructions below to clear codes if this is your issue. Hopefully it is but it’s probably something else like you mentioned.

This is terrible advice, thank you for your contribution.

Thanks for the read, if I was home I would test the sensor for resistance and have a better idea.

Mine had the same code at 230 miles. 3 trips to the dealer they finally replace the downstream sensor. Never had a issue after that. Simply fix and not a big deal.
