So the area in front of my shift levers has a cubby hole. It's where I stash my cell phone especially when I'm charging it. But I am planning to put a two way radio in that spot. So where to put the phone when I leave it in the truck charging? I want a place near me. Also low and hidden so anyone passing by does not see the phone. I'm sure this has been talked about on here before but for $30 it solved my dilemma. And hey, posting is free. It is also a convenient place to just place a phone or other small object when driving around.

I'm not going to remove the tape cover and tape it down because I want to be able to remove it for cleaning. It sits so snugly that it doesn't seem to need to be secured anyways.

Love those. Depending on which one you get vs similar, it might keep you from moving the seat all the way forward. I’m about 5’8-5’9” with short legs and my seat is pushing into mine a little bit, but I wouldn’t move my seat any further forward. If I were shorter and had to move the seat, it would probably push my cubbies up or dislodge them.
YMMV

Did that back in 2020 on my 2020, did it on my 2022 the week I got it, did it on my wife's Wrangler the week after we got it.

My wife runs with the seat almost all the way forward, sometimes it is all the way forward when I try to get into one of our Jeeps. So far, no issues. Clears ok. Can't be any larger than they are, but nothing has been knocked off or around in 3 years now.

phone in the armrest compartment?
As to the two-way radio idea I’m very interested, could be a great use for that space.

I'm 6' 1" (legit 6' 1" not the guy reckoning let's put it on the driver's license because no one checks 6' 1" ?) and have toyed with the idea of getting one of those sets that lets you set the seat back further. I'd like to stretch my legs a little.

My armrest compartment has things like the keys to my trailer receiver lock, Swiss army knife, electric road flare, strike anywhere matches, multi tool, etc in there. I guess I could stuff the phone in there but then I have to open and close the hatch. I guess I just like the idea of being able to grab it right by my knee. Just a personal choice. I always liked it down in that cubby hole where I could see it and reach it if I needed it. Just the best choice for me.

Yeah, my console is full of stuff. And so are the cubbies in both of our Jeeps now. There's so little storage in a JT or JL that adding more is necessary.

I see your point. I’m the opposite as I thought they cubby in front of the shifter would be great for my phone but found it made getting the phone out of there a PITA. Then I thought the phone slot between the cup holders but my phone kept hitting cups and making noise. Now it’s in the arm rest as I don’t have much in there and I don’t have to look at the charging cord.

I just chuck mine in the console and plug it into the USB in there. I use Android auto or my smart watch to get to the phone. The only thing out is the ham radio and that is mounted up on the dash.

I like the Uber tip trays though.

The ones I got years ago are a little different and I think extend further back (passenger for sure because it’s more like a teardrop shape that goes along cupholders too). Mine is ok but my wife would always try to move the seat all over the place on trips and she would try to ram the seat forward sometimes ?

I got one tried it out then gave it to a buddy who has a Rubicon JT. It was nice but kinda irritating when I'm driving rubbing on side of my leg. I might try another one sometime though. :like: but it would probably gather dust, dirt and more clutter. ? damn I need to clean out, vacuum and scrub the floor mats of dry clay n mud.

The ones in the front do. I'm not sure how long. Mostly I come back to me phone charged but sometime only like 87%. Makes me think it's on a timer.

The ones in the back don't.
