Just got it last week. I want to leave it at stock height, and possibly use the stock wheels. Not doing my homework, I don't know what width and back spacing these wheels are, so if anyone has cliff notes and can tell me that would be the bees knees.
I come from the TJ side of jeeping, still have my 03 TJ. We always used back spacing to measure wheel fitment. What's up with measuring offsets now? This ain't a tuner forum, just curious.

My other question is regarding tire size fitment. Provided my wheels have the ideal "offset", what else will I need to do to fit 35's, with swaybar disco'd?
Will I need Rubicon/Mojave flares?
Sorry for the newb questions. I did look for a bit on this section.

For the most part - and without getting into tiny specific details….
The Offset dictates how far the wheel (and tires) will stick out from the hub surface. It doesn’t have anything to do with the tire size (again, generally speaking).

Since youā€˜re planning to use the original wheels….you need to know the diameter & width of your current WHEELS & What is WIDTH of your tires currently?

And since you’re not putting a lift kit on…. The safe thing to investigate, is staying with the same tire WIDTH as your current tires (Or skinnier).

The black rubi flares seem to be plentiful. If you swapped to a pair of them you could probably leave suspension stock or damn close to it. Your wheel width is likely your issue as most tire manufactures recommend 8.5 for a 12.50 tire. Many run narrower which I presume they no something the manufacturer knows or vice versa

Congrats on the new rig. I picked up a similar one (2026 Sport S max tow) this week and have a similar question, but I'm wanting to go with 255/85r17 on stock wheels/ no lift and have not found a definitive answer (probably in this forum somewheres). Anyway I'll keep my eyes on this thread before posting my own. Cheers

I have a 2022 Sport S Max Tow that I just put 255/85R17 Mickey Thompson Baja Boss AT's on (skinny 35's) with a 2" Mopar lift. So I cannot give you much fitment advise on stock height, but also consider your usage and gearing. I did a ton of research on 35's with 4.10 gears. Trying not to open up a can of gear ratio worms here, but the way I see it there are basically 3 camps on this:

- some say it's a great set-up
- some say it's marginal, but OK
- some say it sucks and you need to re-gear

I say its between marginal and needing to re-gear. (yes, I re-calibrated for tire size. Been running 285/70R17 - 33's for the last year for comparison)

If your empty, don't drive into a head wind, and don't drive in hilly areas your fine. However when loaded and/or in headwinds and hills your going be running some RPM's. The 3.6 has no torque and makes no power below 2500 rpm. I just made an 16hr roadtrip (3 adults, 1 dog, and weekend baggage). On the west bound leg, I was in 5th and 6th gear most of the time and never saw 8 gear - only saw 7th gear sometimes going downhill. Rpms at highway and freeway speeds (60-75mph) were 2500-3500 (higher in the hills) and barely averaged 14MPG. Granted I was heading south and west (Michigan - Indiana - Illinois) and with a healthy cross/headwind on the 1st leg of the trip. On the return it was better with a moderate cross/tailwind and saw 7th gear more often and averaged 15-16MPG.

I'm not sure if 4.56 or 4.88 gears will help or not. They may just change what gear you're in at 2500 - 3500 or higher RPMS when in those conditions. That will be my next rabbit hole of research.

I do like the tires though, look great and so far the most quiet AT I've ever run. (Granted I'm only in about 1500 - 2000 miles on them.)

Good luck with your build!

I have the same with a spacer lift, love those tires! No rubbing, drives smoothly.

I have 4.88's and stock 285's on my Mojave.

It just changes what gear your in 2500-3500 in. Drives much nicer though, snappy, responsive, tows better, better MPG empty and loaded.

I'm running 285/75/17 BF Goodrich All-Terrains on stock rims on my 2020 Max Tow, roughly 34" tires. No lift or leveling kit. I bought it used from a Suburu dealer who had just installed them. He opined that this was the largest size that could go onto that Jeep in stock trim. When I researched it, there seemed to be some consensus on that, claim but I can't say if it right for sure. I do know that I've not had any issues at all with clearance, but I haven't yet done anything other than light off-roading with this rig. I'll likely drop down to 33s when I next need tires, b/c I do a fair amount of towing and would appreciate the weight savings. In the picture, it is hooked up to an empty horse trailer with a tongue weight of about 250#, so the rear is compressed just a tad.

That's what I suspected, good to hear with better drivability and hopefully improved mileage. Was hoping that having 8 gears to choose from vs. 6 gears might be more better.

Thank you for your insight. A set of 4.88 gears may be in my future.

I used to have to be pretty aggressive with the throttle to get it to go, especially in city traffic, mainly, like you said, to keep it kicked down and the RPM up. It runs much better now, IMO the Rubicons and Mojaves should have come with 4.88's.
