I live in Las Vegas. the roads here are fairly flat. 85-90% of the time I drive around town vs freeway. My truck has 37's and avg mpg is in mid 14's. I have not had it on the freeway for longer than 12 miles at a time, which bring up the mpg, (mid 15's) but not on freeway long enough to see actual freeway mpg. I suspect on a longer trip, like 100+ miles and stay around 70, it would get high 16's to under 18. truck has stock 4.10s
Just completed a 1200 mile round trip on new 37's with factory 4:10's and didn't have time to marry my new tazer to my Jeep that the dealer set up for 35's settings vs the new 37's, so my speed O and such is still off about 5%. 18 hours of hills of the upper lower Michigan to the UP of Michigan and 6 hours of light duty 4 wheeling of trails. I can't say that it didn't hunt for gears at certain times, but dang, I was impressed. The 17.1 mpg and probably closer to 18mg when you tie in the 5% off for the speedo and such was great. Ran 70+mph on the highway. Trans and oil temps were great. Never felt like I was a loss for power for most scenarios with 3.6L. Sadly, all the other jeeps were LS powered, so I was the baby of the group but held my own.
I will say, 4:56's would be much better and probably in my future.
