41.22 Kill switch... recommend against

I recommend buying a couple of replacement relays after you buy the kit from 41.22. The wired unit takes Type 1. Make sure that you enter your original order number in the notes box. They don't sell replacement relays to just anyone. The relay that was provided with the kit lasted 18 months.

As mentioned above, hide the OEM relay somewhere in your vehicle.

When the relay fails, the vehicle is completely disabled. No cranking at all. When I put the OEM relay back in, it started fine.

I have the wireless set up. My relay is dead to. I don’t know if I have the order number. I don’t think mine lasted that long.

My first one looked like it was 3D Printed and it ended up melting and when it melted it broke the internal connection for the wire and it wouldn't start. I replaced it with the stock relay and had already reached out to 41.22 Support and they shipped me a brand new relay that is definitely an upgraded version of my original one.

I think we may have bought this product early in its lifecycle. The relay that came with my kit looked fine, but 18 months is not good. I hope that the replacement relay lasts longer. I bought two of them, and hope that I never have to use the second one. The overall product is a good basic solution, especially for the price.

Which makes me wonder why it's failing. Is it just a poorly done modification to a relay, i.e. not being properly soldered or re-sealed?

To anyone considering a 41.22 kill switch... i wouldn't recommend this product unless you happen to carry a jump pack with you wherever you go.

Alternatively, you can carry your original starter fuse in the truck with you and plug it in when it wont start with the 41.22 installed.

No, it's not my batteries (aux was freshly replaced and main was tested at 100% charge and 100% capacity).

I'm not going to write out my entire series of events and diagnostics, all i'll says is I was left with a truck that wont start a half dozen times over the period of 4 weeks when my 41.22 was still installed, and as soon as I unplugged it and put the factory fuse back those problems all stopped (and my ASS Service light stopped coming on too).

The problem is that when I reached out politely, and either pictures, I never received a reply. I was WAY under the initial year of ownership.

This is a terrible company shelling out crap, and then not standing behind it. Run as fast as you can.

The remote unit wasn't even a thing when i bought. Mine was wired.

I don't know the cause, but for twenty bucks I'm willing to replace the relay (upgraded?) and see if it holds up. Not ready to move to a different solution yet.

The relay in my vehicle didn't melt. It just failed. Note to self: ALWAYS check this relay first. Reminder: Hide original relay in vehicle.

After I replace the relay, I will take it apart and take photos. Will post if I find anything interesting.

Why do you need a kill switch? Must be a high crime area? Can these things even be stolen? How would you steal them without a key.

High crime area, low crime area; doesn't really matter. There is no such thing as a no crime area.

The town I live in is very much a low crime area. My neighborhood specifically is very close to a number of schools. My property butts right up to the high school's property, the middle school is on the other side of that, and there are 2 elementary schools less than a mile from me (one NE, one SW) all on the same road. As such, it's a well-patrolled area of my low-crime town. I know for a fact there is one detective about 3 doors down, and i suspect there are another officer catty-corner to me (patrol car parks in the driveway a lot, never with lights on, always around lunch time usually for almost an hour. if he doesn't live there he's getting his afternoon delight on).

But all it takes is one desperate person. Not to mention my garage is filled with projects and i leave my doors off overnight while parked either in my driveway or on my street if the weather looks clear for multiple days in a row.

Completely different experience than the one I had. I was way past a year and they had no issues replacing mine and even asked if the one in my old 392 Wrangler needed to be replaced. Then they ended up sending it to my old address so I never got it and reached out again and I had a new one in less than a week. Sorry that happened to you.

You would be absolutely amazed how easy most cars are to steal, and Jeeps (and even more specifically Wranglers and Gladiators) aren't any different.

The easiest way for someone to steal a jeep would be either a relay attack or a clone attack. Just guessing here but a relay attack is probably the preferred method for a late night driveway theft (requires equipment, but it's less expensive) and a clone attack is probably the preferred method for a mid-day parking lot grab.

So what was the point of the key fob with proximity sensor? I thought it was to help make it harder to steal. LOL
So now we are making it easier to steal a vehicle. Luckily for us Consumer reports says jeeps suck and only get Toyotas. Toyota is the only vehicle that doesn't suck. LOL
